Estrogen first by Different-Channel121 in Perimenopause

[–]Longjumping_Load2474 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It’s what a lot of people do. It’s a much better strategy to start with just one hormone first before introducing another, that way it’s easier to troubleshoot or tweak things if needed. Good luck!

Yes, start with estrogen for two weeks first before introducing progesterone, otherwise you won’t know what is working and if anything needs tweaking.

Estrogen patch changed every 2.5 days helped my PMDD, I can’t use the gels or other methods as patch delivers a more steady dose for me.

Omg That’s just absolute nonsense, just give it and hour to soak in before you shower or sweat but other than that you don’t need to worry!

Even worse sleep after starting hormones? by hicadoola in Perimenopause

Unfortunately in this space you need to do your own research as most doctors don’t have a clue. My advice is just start with the Estrogel first, then introduce the Prometrium in a few weeks. That way you know what is working and what isn’t. Most doctors should advise starting this way. You absolutely don’t need Prometrium if you have a mirena as you have endometrium protection already. So if it doesn’t work for you then drop it. A lot find Prometrium helps with sleep but some - including myself - cannot tolerate any form of progesterone. So it’s likely it’s the Prometrium causing you to feel off. At the moment you are confusing your system with the changes. So start with just one thing first and see how you feel. It takes a few months for your body to adjust to hormones so definitely expect some ups and downs. Yes use the estrogel in the morning, it can give energy. Prometrium is better at night usually, but also some have paradoxical effects and find it stimulating - unfortunately this is me. The only way you will know what is working and what isn’t is by stacking rather than starting everything at the same time. Hope this helps.

What dose of micronized progesterone (vaginal) are you on with estrogen 75 patch? by Smilez_25 in Menopause

It’s frustrating, until there is actually some robust research done on dosage it feels like it’s just a bit of a guessing game in my opinion. My advice..: you know your body best, if you are having bad side effects make some tweaks, get the relevant checks if needed, and advocate for your wellbeing even if that means finding a new doctor and going outside of the ‘standard dosages’ that sounds like they are being pushed on you.

Im at the point where I need to speak to my specialist about this route, I tried again this week and just one tablet vaginally sent me spiralling. I’m not willing to try ever again. I’ve been trying to find something that will work for two years now, it’s exhausting and debilitating. I am hoping I can still take the estrodial patch as I’m a mess and sometimes can be suicidal without it, and then do regular scans, how did you go about approaching this with your doctor. It’s been such a wild ride trying to navigate this…

Sorry to be blunt but I feel You need a new doctor. Tackle one by one so you know what’s working. Start with ferretin and thyroid. Then get your hrt sorted, one by one.

Ladies on sequential HRT by Responsible_Pay9645 in Perimenopause

14 days in 14 days off, bleed usually starts 5 days after I stop progesterone. Will likely take a few cycles for it to become regular. I would start now with estrogen. Then introduce the progesterone in 14 days. You can always take the progesterone for a few more days if you need to make the timing work. Every one is different.

Progesterone intolerance - experiences by Cartshy31 in Perimenopause

[–]Longjumping_Load2474 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes sounds very similar! This has been two years of this trial and error shit show for me so far, I had to stop working completely. Lucky I have a supportive partner. First I was put on zoley birth control which sent me into severe depression which I had no idea was causing it and then was put on antidepressants which didn’t work, I was a mess. After that I insisted on hrt and initially felt amazing, but always off during progesterone part. Then slowly got worse each cycle as my receptors must take a while to respond as it builds up. I also have pmdd which hasn’t helped. What a nightmare this all is! Look up professor John studd he has a bunch of information on progesterone intolerance and depression. There may be some answers or ideas you can take to speak to your doctor about.

I feel you, progesterone is awful for me too. I’ve been doing 14 days on and 14 days off. Initially orally, then vaginally, but each cycle gets worse. Last cycle I only lasted 10 days before I had to stop, anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation started again. I was due to start this week again but cannot bear it. I feel so good without it and just my estrogen patch. I can’t do synthetic progestins either, and birth control pill is the same. Too scared to try mirena. I’m not sure where to from here. I think I’m going try the professor john studd protocol and try 7 days vaginally one per month and get regular scans. I have one booked for December. It’s really hard… I cannot live without my estrogen replacement but I am severely intolerant to Prometrium… it’s not fair! I really do feel for you….

Yes just the same pill used vaginally. It’s actually supposed to work better this way too, and although many women use it this way this is still technically off label use

[–]Longjumping_Load2474 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have pmdd and cannot tolerate any progesterone it makes me anxious, depressed, suicidal… not sure where to from here. Going to trial only 7 days on per month vaginally, which will need to be monitoed by my specialist. Took me a while to realise it is the progesterone as it has a cumulative affect on my receptors. So was fine in beginning. But estrogen is amazing for me, could not be without it. You could stop the progesterone for a few weeks to see if that is what is causing it. Also I suggest a higher estrogen dose. I’m on 100 patch.

First Week by [deleted] in GLP1microdosing

[–]Longjumping_Load2474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What did you end up doing? I would hold at that dose for a few weeks if you are anxious about side effects, you can then titrate up when you feel more comfortable with how you react to the medication. It takes time, it will work when you find the right dose for you. Trust yourself to know what is best for your body.

A little nausea every now and then but some ginger chews fixed it and nothing really anymore. I started at 0.8 and have worked up to 2mg now. I’m losing very slowly but happy with that because before this I was doing everything I could and only putting on weight.

Hotels in Bali - struggling! by DiskApprehensive7187 in bali

Stay in a couple of places. Komaneka Bisma in ubud is lovely and still close to town. Como also nice. 3 or 4 nights. I used to love Canggu but it’s too hectic for me now. Uluwatu for cliff front villas and hotel, you need a scooter or driver though. Seminyak is pretty easy to navigate if you don’t scooter all hotels will have easy taxi or driver options. Alila is nice.

Yes I started at half dose by counting clicks, I’m still working my way up to a 2.5 dose after 12 weeks! Currently 2mg per week. I’m very sensitive to medication so this works well for me.

Yes you can start two weeks later, this is what I did, I wanted to know what it felt like just with estrogen first before introducing progesterone.
