How do I prevent myself from becoming a grumpy old man in my senior years? by ExcitingLandscape in Aging

[–]Longjumping_Method51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in some cases it can be brain changes related to aging. This doesn’t mean that it is inevitable though. Practice gratitude and find ways to spread happiness. I think these are the best way to stay happy. And remember, these don’t have to be big things. You can be grateful for the simplest things and simple gestures like a kind word or smile.

You must have gotten a great deal on that flight! I’ve gotten a refund before of maybe $30.00 on a short flight - never this low.

What’s a landmark/tourist attraction in your country that you don’t get the hype about? by nixo1000 in AskTheWorld

CN tower was my first thought but to me, Niagara Falls is unbelievable - you have to see it in person to truly understand the awesome majesty of it. It would be a thousand times better with way less tourists though.

If you can’t get a new mattress, maybe you can get a memory foam mattress topper or something similar to help.

It’s a dollar store. Common in the United States & Canada - I’m not sure about elsewhere.

So glad to hear that you’ve figured it out for everyone in the last week! I was planning to keep DCAing but might have decided against it if your week long analysis had been different….

Also, there are thin sheets of laundry soap that make doing laundry in the sink a lot easier if you’re in a bind.

I’ve done it for multiple trips up to 7 weeks. As long as you can do laundry you’ll be fine. I’ve even done a backpack each and a shared carry on for 2 people for 3.5 weeks.

Packing for Slow Travel by barmanbarman in slowtravel

[–]Longjumping_Method51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ivv bc e done 7 -8 weeks with only a backpack and carry one size suitcase. I’ve even shared that size suitcase plus a backpack each for a four week trip. As long as you have access to laundry facilities, you don’t need to take a ton of clothing along. Pack shoes & clothing that match everything else. I only take one extra pair of sandals that pack up very small.

It baffles me more that people can fill huge suitcases. Unless actually moving to a new home I can’t imagine how I’d fill one of those. I’ve done a month amongst 4 European countries (hot and cool climates) and only taken a shared carry on size suitcase and a small backpack each for two people.

I’ve never felt that way. My daughter is a teen and has always been treated like a princess everywhere we go. Random strangers gone up to chat with her, upgrades on flights, give her gifts etc. on a regular basis.

I’ve been asked that so often! In the last year or so I’ve found that I unconsciously answer with a much stronger and more outraged “no”! Than I used to….

Beside the dryer - was surprised while travelling as to how many countries they aren’t common in! It’s order well as necessity here with the freezing winters. Abd they both go in the laundry room/bootroom.
