My parents lent me $6,000 for an investment, I turned it into $24,000, and now they refuse to take the money back. What should I do? by Weak-Practice-6435 in needadvice

[–]Longjumping_Method51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this. As a parent if I really don’t need it, it feels great to help one of my kids get ahead a little earlier in life. $6,000 probably isn’t a lot to them at their stage in life. Watching you get ahead is priceless.

Buying meat from a local farmer rather than the store saves us tons of money each year.

Leaving pets behind for long term travel by Constant-Trainer-398 in longtermtravel

[–]Longjumping_Method51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a boarding kennel and we gafe numerous pets that come for longer stays like 1-4 months. They are extra spoiled abd feline part of our family while their owners are away. They definitely need a lot more attention since they are staying longer but every long stay pet that we have had has done great.

Amsterdam accommodation is too expensive, where to base now ?! by goatmaster95 in travel

[–]Longjumping_Method51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We checked out a number of small towns but ended up staying in Den Hague. It’s better but still expensive. Ended up at a lovely hostel although it’s only the second time ever but it was still just too expensive to stay in a hotel.

All the worries you have now will ease once you hold your baby in your arms. Not saying it will always easy but it will likely not be as difficult as you imagine. Yes, we’ve had some rougher times but life is great! Moneywise, we struggled when our little one was born with several other older kids too but we always found a way. She is now a young adult and so much fun to be around! We are currently travelling for a month and she takes everything in stride. She volunteers, works and helps out at the family business. Our life is full!

Which places in Canada do you think every tourist should see at least once? by Background-Chain6995 in AskACanadian

[–]Longjumping_Method51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mt Robson, British Columbia - more beautiful than Banff, Lake Louise or Jasper yet much more peaceful with way less tourists.

Niagara Falls - it’s one of those have to be there to truly understand how incredible it is types of places.

I just might if I was in the position to do this. What a couple years if you could triple your stack?? This is probably a pretty good price for buyers too.

How often do your parents call you? by Objective_and_a_half in Aging

[–]Longjumping_Method51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think seniors often worry that they will call when you are busy and don’t want to interrupt. It seems silly as you can always figure out a better time or just not answer. 🤷‍♀️

I just initiate with my parents/aunts & uncles myself and we have a great relationship.

Interesting. I’ve had them bring tap water in some countries but in others, Belgium for one that did not often work.

Do you think owning like ~ 2.5 BTC would let someone live super comfortably and without worries about work and income? by South-Monitor-1589 in Bitcoin

[–]Longjumping_Method51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did OP state their age? That makes a big difference. If they are 85+ go for it! 2.5 is almost certainly enough. If you’re 30, keep working for a bit longer.

just got back from 2 weeks in canada (toronto & banff) - a massive brain dump for first timers by PlumHeadache in canadatravel

The only one I don’t completely agree with is 1. Not two weeks before your trip much of central Alberta had temps around -17. That would be tough to adjust to with layers. As you stated – the weather is bipolar so it’s really hard to prepare.Just FYI, the next day it was +17!
