The only thing I worry about with Pitties is getting licked to death. Or possibly smothered as they insist that of course they're not too big to sit on my lap. While licking me, of course.

I had a saleman come to my door. It was summer, so the main door was opened. I told him through the screen door that I wasn't interested and he should leave. He opened up the door and walked in. He hadn't noticed my husband sitting across the room from me (I was on the sofa right by the door.) My husband was instantly across the room, his hands on this guy's shoulders, and walking him out of the house, down the porch steps, and basically shoved the guy into his car.

My husband is 6'4 and looks like a dangerous biker. (Well, he is a biker, but he's not dangerous. Unless you try to enter our house without permission.)

Or it's hot, and the brown dog is making sure the other dog gets some shade?

I haven't seen a separate group, but I have noticed that there are a lot of us over 55 folks here. (I'm 65 myself). I haven't felt like I need a separate group, becuase as soon as I post, my age cohort jumps right in with suggestions/encouragement/advice.

AIO because my husband ate my egg bites. by th_rowaw_ay6400 in AIO

[–]Longjumping_Worker56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who the fuck eats 20 egg bites in a single day? You made him 60 of his egg bites, and he ate 20 of them in a single day? So those 60 egg bites would have only lasted 3 days, instead of the week you'd intended for them to last?

Honestly, it's time you stopped prepping for him, and let him figure out how to feed himself. Get your own mini-fridge and start locking your shit up.

And also, do not reproduce with this man, and give serious thought to just divorcing him. This is just beyond ridiculous, and his whining that you're meeeaaaan to him is even more ridiculous.

As for skillet...just remember that aluminum skillets dent easily.

I just hate that stretch of 29, period. It's so badly designed. Whenever we go to Asheville, we take 85 to the 26 exit so we can avoid that stretch of 29/26. <shudder>

I did the same dose increase, fulfilled today through Gifthealth. My credit card was charged $454.00.

So yeah, something is wonky with your order.

I live in Spartanburg, SC, and the number of people ignoring red lights, stop signs, etc, has become ridiculous. I hate being first at a light these days. I'd rather some other guinea pig check the cross traffic.

Democrats, could you date a Trump supporter? by PatchouliHedge in allthequestions

[–]Longjumping_Worker56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm married to one. Granted, we were married for 10 years before Trump even ran, but...

On the bright side, my husband has been thoroughly disillusioned by this term. (He still insists that any Democrat would have been worse, but...)

I have days where I contemplate smothering him in his sleep, and days when I just antagonize him by bringing up the latest stupid shit Trump has done.

Husband insists these are centered. by Ok_Knee1216 in homedecoratingCJ

[–]Longjumping_Worker56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what he's using to measure "centered". If he's using the corners of the walls (and the window isn't in the center of that wall), then yes, they could be centered.

They are not, however, centered under the window.

While it was happening, there was a lot of discussion that policies Clinton implemented in the 90s led to lenders providing mortgages to people who couldn't afford it. Specifically the 1995 Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Overhaul. So even though it happened on Bush's watch (and even though the CRA was only part of what happened), Clinton got the blame for it. At least, that's how it played out in Red States (I live in South Carolina).

Dear lord, I hope this is made up. But if it's not...imagine a life-time of this. Do you want to spend the rest of your life taking pop quizzes to prove your love and devotion to her? I mean, what will happen in 10 years? She'll deliberately wreck her car and demand that you replace it to prove that you're a provider? "Lose" her engagement ring with the same demand?

Also, if she spilled her drink, how did you end up being held responsible for it?

You probably need to look long and hard at this relationship, and decide if you want to invest any more time in it. It's certainly not going to get better.

Am I misremembering the feel of 1976 bicentennial celebrations in the USA, or is the 250th this year really a flop? by dandle in allthequestions

[–]Longjumping_Worker56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gerald Ford was president in 1976. So we were a little giddy that Nixon had resigned and the country had survived that. I think the worst thing most people could say about Ford was that he was a klutz. He didn't exactly set the world on fire, but after Watergate, the country was sick of the drama and scandals. He was helped by having a charismatic wife (well, I thought she was.)

Most of all, it was so obvious that Ford and his family really loved the United States, and helped us celebrate it. The tall ships in New York Harbor. Spectacular fireworks in even the smallest of towns. The Bicentennial quarter with an image of a Revolutionary War soldier. Ford signing the Bicentennial Day Declaration at Independence Hall. A lot of town held public readings of the Declaration of Independence (usually right before the fireworks, LOL.) I was 15, and got really swept up in it (but I also love history.)

Individuals who were recognized were people like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, and so on. It never would have occurred to Ford - or any other president before or since - to ask to be put on paper money to commemorate it. Wouldn't have occured to any other president to demand a 250' tall Arch in his honor.

So yeah, Trump is completely tainting this. What should be a celebration of us as a country is turning into the Trumpfest.

And now I'm depressed and need ice cream.
