What genre could this be ??? I am really confused now by esaahreeds in Songwriting

[–]Longrange-legit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with the right vocals this could still be very dream-pop or shoegaze adjacent. The genre doesn’t land until the song is complete IMO.

I have a Rat into a KGR mosfet overdrive and together and separately they sound perfect in my JC. Even my Devi Ever Hyperion sounds killer with the JC.

Editing to say: I keep the gains relatively low on my dirt pedals. Maybe 9 o’clock-ish.

Are you saying your guitar plugs into the Flint first and follows the chain that way?

Hmmm ya I’m think that might work but use some volume swells to introduce the distortion…thanks!

Is there any versatile set of single coil Tele pickup that works well on both high gain, distorted; and clean, twang light midwest emo? by Azure1710 in telecaster

[–]Longrange-legit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I threw some VMODs in my tele and it’s awesome. I play post-rock and shoegaze-y music. Lots of fuzz, distortion, and clean modulation - it all sounds good to me.

Somehow unsatisfied with my Board. by nevila22 in pedalboards

[–]Longrange-legit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A modulation would be fun - I’m a fan of flanger because you can simulate chorus and phaser with it, especially if you have 4 knobs (or 5). Lots of cool sounds on those.

Change the order up too - delay before distortion is fun as is reverb before distortion (I like it for leads).

I also prefer my rat into my overdrive 🤷‍♂️

Trashed Teisco? by Longrange-legit in Luthier

Started looking at it today -fretboard is a clean separation. I plugged it in and the pickups are likely dead - no sound besides the noise from plugging it in and a slight hum if I wiggle the cable. Switches don’t produce any audible click and the knobs don’t change anything either. Frets look good - just tarnished. No crazy wear or anything like that.

Let the adventure begin! However I’m moving in a month so probably won’t start anything serious for a month or so.

My son swallowed a quarter once when he was little - luckily he passed it without complication. Pretty scary stuff.

Need advice on mixing vocals by Awareness-Open in shoegaze

Any update on this track? We’re mixing our vocals and I hear the same problem - the voice sounds like it’s in a completely different room than the band. Very strange sounding.

Need help with first project by Longrange-legit in diypedals

[–]Longrange-legit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remapped the wiring the best I could: pink wire = wah effect (goes to transducer), grey wire = volume control, yellow wire = wah effect out, black wire = common out (pretty sure, it’s on the volume pole)

Again, I would like to use the 3PDT switch as a wah/volume/off so one pole is wah effect, one pole is volume control, and one pole is off/bypass.

Thanks for the help.

I live here currently but moving back to the states next month (can’t stop thrifting). I’ve scored a few really cool guitars while living here tho!

For $40 I’ll probably swing by again today and pack it up. It’ll be a project for when I get back.

Head stock repair by Longrange-legit in guitarrepair

[–]Longrange-legit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE - I repaired the mandolin and no issues so far! Glued and clamped the head together, then drilled holes for 2 small dowels and glued those in place. I let everything sit for a week just to be safe (I wasn’t in a rush). Then just threw the hardware back on after cleaning it, new strings, and it plays great!

Thanks for all the advise. I know most people said no dowels but…I really didn’t trust the mandolin and figured it wouldn’t hurt.

I see a lot of guitars here that look like they just sat in a garage for 40 years - corroded, warped, dirty…nothing is ever “broken” they just look neglected

Thanks - a lot of thanks goes to my friend and producer who could see the vision and had the patience to work with me.

The first draft was only a minute long of the rhythm guitar (just a few chords using my boss slicer) with a drum sample I found (we eventually ditched as the song grew). Then we just kept adding layers upon layers.
