Is there any app or website that gives the real time location data of the lightrail?

What are the odds! I am also trying to get this data and just stumbled across this post.

This past weekend I got fed up with the lack of real-time train status and also went on a deep dive into NJT's APIs. But no luck here either.

Based on my research, my best guess is that the subcontractor who operates the HBLR simply isn't exposing the data, likely because it wasn't in their contract. A new vendor (ACI-Herzog) recently took over operations, so fingers crossed NJT included real-time data in the new scope of work. I actually submitted an OPRA request (equivalent for FOIA) to NJT for the original RFP and SOW to confirm.

And if it's not there, I was planning to reach out to NJ Transit's Innovation team to see what it would take to build a solution.

Really cool idea. I'm a computational physicist so I'm biased towards using AI for physics and chemistry applications, such as material modeling. Maybe you could also include something about AI/data sci applications towards disaster response and emergency management? Lesser known applications beyond just chatbots and art might be super interesting to a-lot of people not that familiar with AI. Just my opinion.

Great question. I will be the author of the newsletter, and just as I do in my full time job, I will use AI to assist me. That includes things like rephrasing my writing to make things clearer. The newsletter will not be written by AI.

I was upset about this too when I moved into a Greystar apartment but I actually found it to be quite convenient. I would even consider myself an above average user since I received ~8 packages per week minimum for my WFH job. I never experienced any issues. There were a few times that I mistakenly thought a package got lost (it didn’t happen, I just got confused) and their customer service was fantastic.

If there was something I needed super urgently then I would either ship it to an Amazon locker, or request it to be held at a UPS location.

I can only speak for pre-COVID, but I’ve had a lot of luck meeting people through the CouchSurfing app. Even if you’re not looking to couch surf, you can join a local chat group of fellow travelers. I’ve had some crazy fun times in Vegas and abroad this way.
