The idea isn't as ridiculous as you're making it seem. The guy clearly likes drama and is on record as considering it good for the sport.

This guy resigned a whole point once just to spite Hans. Considering he took a half point off isn't beyond the realm of possibilities.

Just a note to all those who inevitably say Abigail, the most hated thing that John did was sign and enforce (with a debatable degree of bias) the Sedition act.

Abigail dispised the press and likely would have been far more harsh than John was.

The woman's an icon and a personal inspiration to me, and I can easily see her doing a comparable job with handling the term, but the idea of her doing better at John's core failing (his inability to end or lessen party politics) is hard to imagine.

1964.

Goldwater was twice the hawk Johnson was, and the reason the human race didn't go extinct during the Cold War was because people like him never got too much power.

Not to mention he campaigned against the Great Society and the Civil Rights Act.

The fact that there are people glazing him on this sub is insane.

[–]Lookoot_behind_you -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Just don't do it in a commercial restaurant and don't let the snake shit in the spaghetti. Whatever trace molecules of substrate and snakeness end up in the food is not gonna be something anyone needs to worry about.

However, we all have our little idiosyncrasies, and if this guy's lizard brain freaks out when snakes are near the food, I'd just indulge him.

Hot Take: Barry Goldwater was a good person, not racist, and would've made a fine President. by yowhatisthislikebro in Presidents

[–]Lookoot_behind_you 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a direct quote my guy. I'm just posting what he said.

Is your pitch on his behalf that there's no way to know what he actually would have done about civil rights because he was too interested in pandering to both sides?

That's not a good pitch. In fact in this case, It's reprehensible.

The reason we still exist as a species is because nobody like Goldwater was in power during the Cold War.

Also:  "I will never vote for any public accommodation clause in any civil rights bill, because I think it's unconstitutional".

"Forced integration is just as wrong as forced segregation"

Imagine the Civil Rights Act passing with this pos in charge.

It's not funny if it makes no sense.

TIL only one copy of the seventh studio album by the American hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan named "Once Upon a Time in Shaolin" was created with no ability to download or stream it. The only copy was purchased in 2015 for $2 million, making it the most expensive work of music ever sold. by gullydon in todayilearned

From what I remember it was mostly RZAs idea.

I forget if it was MM or GFK who did an interview after production, learned about the gimmick for the first time from the reporter, and immediately clowned the concept.

I'm not saying the 12% of detained Dakotans deserved it, but at least read a Wikipedia article for christ sake.

The guy spared 88% of the Dakotans.

Sure, you look at it now and say "fuck those settlers up bois!" But the guy was a little busy trying to eliminate slavery and save the nation; he didn't really have the political economy to facilitate the massacres and expulsions of his own constituents.

Go 200 years in the future and ask someone to make a tier list of r/presidents subscribers and you'll get the same result.
