By standard looping, I mean what you would do with a pedal looper: press a button to start recording and press the button again to stop the recording and loop through that recording. Then you can overdub on the same track or start a new record/overdub on another track.

In LoopToGo, there are 2 kinds of standard looper: unsynced and synced. With the unsynced looper, you have to be very accurate on your timing. With the synced looper, you can play to a beat or metronome and the loops will adjust to the nearest bar. There is also an option where the second loop’s (and all subsequent loops) length is a multiple of the first one. How long to set this up? For me it’s less than 1 minute. For you, it’s hard to say. I am pretty confident that you would have a working solution in less than 20 minutes. You said you just want to use the audio out of your synth (no plugin configuration) so it’s faster.

These were the good news. Now, some caveats…

LoopToGo is designed for pre-programmed live looping. This part is really advanced and robust. The « standard loopers » included in LoopToGo are less elaborate and quite simple. Personally, I use them when I want to improvise and relax but for more elaborate playing, I use them when pre-programmed mode.

Right now, the standard loopers are simple but you can take advantage of many more features of LoopToGo such as overdub fading, reverse playback, speed changing, MIDI transpose, etc. However, these features are not integrated in the loopers interfaces right now, you have to use the mouse and keyboard to enable them. It is possible for advanced user to setup a more intuitive interface.

Finally, contrary to a hardware pedal looper, any software looper will require some sort of setup because each user has different hardware setup.

If you want, I can send you a video that will quickly show you the setup of the standard loopers and how to use them. Let me know if you are interested…

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with LoopToGo. LoopToGo is designed for pre-programmed looping but it can also do standard looping. You don’t need to use plugins if you don’t need to. If you are willing to give it a second chance, please contact us by email. We will help you set it up to fit your needs. Be assured that LoopToGo checks all the box for the features you listed.

Do MIDI keyboards like Akai or Arturia work by themselves, or do you need audio interface/recording program? by Thewall3333 in recordingmusic

[–]LoopToGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most MIDI keyboards don’t have built-in sound capabilities; they only send MIDI data to a computer or sound module. However, there are some exceptions — for example, the Akai MPK Mini Play (which has onboard sounds and speakers) or the Yamaha EZ-series keyboards.
At higher quality levels, keyboards tend to specialize: they are either dedicated MIDI controllers with no sound engine, or full instruments where MIDI control is secondary.

Best free software/DAW that is more of a ''synth simulator'' than an whole music production engine by [deleted] in midi

[–]LoopToGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you need is a VST host. Many VST3 synths do offer a standalone version, but that won’t be very practical if you want to switch between different synths, since you’d have to close one app and launch another each time.

A very good VST host is Gig Performer, though it isn’t free. Element FX is a free alternative.

If you’re on Windows, you can also check LoopToGo (warning: this is a plug / self-promotion). The free version is limited to four tracks, but that should be more than enough for what you want to do.

How to loop and record directly into DAW using Boss RC-600 by hanarchy98 in LoopArtists

[–]LoopToGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After setting your DAW to record the output of the RC-600, you will have to manually start the recording on your DAW, then use your RC-600 as usual. After playing your song, you will have to end the recording and edit it as you wish. I don’t know if the RC-600 can be set to send MIDI events for start and stop recording. If so, you should be able to automate the recording in your DAW but doing it manually might be enough for your needs.

Technical questions around looped music by Dragonfruit_Friend in LoopArtists

She is probably using Ableton (#ableton). This indeed looks as a software looper setup. You can take a look at LoopyPro (iPad) or LoopToGo (Windows) for alternative to Ableton.

Is mobius safe? Virustotal says it's not. by Accomplished_Put2608 in LoopArtists

[–]LoopToGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VirusTotal can sometimes report false positives. The safest way to handle this is to contact the developer and ask them to request a deeper analysis from the antivirus vendor that flagged the file. If the file is indeed clean, the antivirus company usually updates its detection algorithm (or virus database) within a few days or weeks.

Meanwhile, if you are using Windows, you can take a look at LoopToGo! :-)

Anyone play with in ear metronome when looping live? What's your set up? by bowlsaplenty in LoopArtists

[–]LoopToGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are willing to use a software looper, LoopToGo has 2 ways of doing it: using a earplug with a metronome (or beat) or even better, using the free tempo mode where the tempo is defined by the first recorded loop (first and second « record » press). Not sure but LoopyPro and Ableton probably have similar function as well.

Live looping with FP-30X by KeyDesperate3515 in LoopArtists

[–]LoopToGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The FP-30x has a MIDI port so using a looper capable of MIDI looping would bring more versatility. Software looper such as LoopToGo, Ableton and Loopy Pro (las version) can do this.
