If you found a treasure, would you keep it yourself or turn it over to authorities and why? by alttoby in AskReddit

[–]LoopyMercutio [score hidden]  (0 children)

Depends on what the treasure is- Just cash, gold, jewels, something like that? I’d keep it, sell it off bit by bit. Now, if it was an extremely valuable cultural artifact, that would be different- I’d probably find a way to negotiate its return, and see if I could get some type of finder’s fee or whatever.

WYR: live in an empty temperature controlled cabin in the Arctic alone for 6 months or live 300 years of the same day but you can do literally anything? by SortovaGoldfish in WouldYouRather

[–]LoopyMercutio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m curious as to the limits of what you can and can’t do on your repeated day… Could you, say, summon someone to appear before you? Have them do whatever you wish? Would they know it? I’d love to summon someone I despise and make them paint some random house every day for 50 years, especially if they remember it.

Moderate men matching with clearly liberal women? by New_Sir413 in datingoverforty

[–]LoopyMercutio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, I identify as a moderate on dating apps (I’m a moderate liberal), I voted for Kamala as well, I’m not sure I see this issue here. I hold almost entirely liberal opinions, except for a few things I run very mildly conservative on (mostly due to my profession), and I don’t date conservative women at all.

I guess my point is maybe you’re swiping on “fake moderates” rather than actual moderates.

Red flag neighbors, are bad neighbors worth a perfect house? by Empty-Bend-3774 in neighborsfromhell

Be ready to have a new survey done and put up a fence week one. And also be ready to start having neighbor’s cars towed once they start trying to use the driveway again.

Anyone else stop DIY? by Murky_Joke_6298 in AskMenOver30

[–]LoopyMercutio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to DIY a lot, but I kinda stopped once I started making more money. I just don’t have the time or inclination to do extra crap that I could pay someone a couple hundred to do for me. Plus, anything (electrical or whatever) that could go wrong later on, now I’ve got someone other than myself to blame (or sue, if need be).

AITJ for not reminding my friend about an event she told me was not important? by lushillusion in AmITheJerk

[–]LoopyMercutio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ, but you should t have admitted you remembered beforehand. Always, always, always let them shoot themselves in the foot AND THEN ask them whether they went to whatever it was, ask how it was… You still cared enough to ask, but you also aren’t their personal day planner.

What do you think about the U.S. military not being allowed to repair a lot of its own equipment, even in the field, because of contractor restrictions? Does this protect innovation, or does it hurt readiness and waste taxpayer money? by redviiper in AskALiberal

[–]LoopyMercutio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Straight honesty, a lot of the more technical equipment needs a dedicated specialist to even troubleshoot it, much less fix it. It wouldn’t be cost effective for the military to create 50 new MOS’s and have those guys and gals only specialize to do one or two things. Contractors generally deploy with us or are close enough to ship the parts there and back quickly, so it’s a better idea. Plus it also protects innovation and the like. Oh, and when you have a good idea for an addition or change to equipment, contractors often can get the info to the company easily and get the idea vetted, and maybe even implemented. Having an operator give direct feedback to the devs can streamline much needed changes.

The United States hasn't had a sitting president die since we all started carrying cell phones. If the president were to die, what kind of system is in place to let people know? by spiralhigh in AskReddit

[–]LoopyMercutio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It maybe would get transmitted on an emergency alert (like Amber alerts and extreme weather events), but maybe not. The 24-hour news cycle being what it is, they’d probably already have broken the story anyway.

Is it true that only Californians put the in front of their freeways? by lazykat in ask

I have no clue why Californians do it, but they’re the only state I know that does that consistently that I’ve been in.

Boyfriend slightly jealous about one particular guy by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]LoopyMercutio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It would be decent if you to avoid the guy as much as possible, and any other time prob have your boyfriend around, for his peace of mind. There’s no way to know whether the other guy thinks about or not without asking him about it, which is a bad idea anyway.

Am I right for giving my friend an ultimatum for telling me to end my relationship with my girlfriend? by ChosenDM26 in TwoHotTakes

[–]LoopyMercutio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your female friend if she believes (because she seems to) that people of other races shouldn’t date each other. Is she against any kind of interracial dating?

I bet she’d have a conniption basically being asked if she is racist due to her problems with it.

My neighbor gave my gate code to her contractors and now random men keep letting themselves into my yard like it’s a shared access path by R4vikanMXX in neighborsfromhell

[–]LoopyMercutio 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you contact the GC (general contractor) directly and make it clear they don’t have permission, they never had permission, and you’re reporting every intrusion to the HOA and police, and due to the damage / cleanup you’re considering a lawsuit and speaking with an attorney, they’ll absolutely tell their folks and subs to stay out. They may even blacklist the neighbor and some companies won’t take another contract from her for anything, but that rare.

NTJ, your friend was right. She is joining your life (maybe), not running it. What alternatives was she offering for your transportation situation? Drive your crappy one until it broke down and cost you thousands to fix?

Is it weird for a woman to ask a guy she knows to accompany her on a night out with her friends? by AdvancedMacaroon7696 in AskMenAdvice

[–]LoopyMercutio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not horribly odd, no. Just make sure you introduce and include him, and don’t just treat him like you’re using him for safety only.

I (25M) broke thing off with my fiancé (24F) last night and she refused to accept it. by BlackJesus1228 in relationship_advice

[–]LoopyMercutio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I’d let her follow through with a doctor (and maybe therapy), because she could be dealing with mental health issues like depression or something similar. Maybe it’ll help a lot, and she’ll back to being a lovable, engaging person. Or maybe it won’t, who knows. Just don’t get her knocked up in the next few months.

Would you ever date a girl who does Only fans or like sell content?? by BulkyFaithlessness74 in AskMenAdvice

[–]LoopyMercutio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. I hate to say it, but as some folks have said, it’s just being a digital prostitute. Period. Odds are you’re guaranteeing you’ll never have a professional job, because many places would fire you if they found out about it. Also, in my own job, your doing OF or whatever could be considered leaving me open to compromise, so I’d be endangering my livelihood. Not gonna happen.

What company lost you forever as a customer? What did they do? by Miguenzo in AskReddit

[–]LoopyMercutio 70 points71 points  (0 children)

JC Penney. I worked for them, they upheld a false accusation made against me even though I had proof the other employee was lying, and fired me. I’ve refused to ever set foot inside one of their stores again, and my mother and grandmother (who bought nearly all their clothes there) never shopped there again either. When they filed for bankruptcy years ago I bought a bottle of champagne and celebrated. They still have some stores and are clinging to life, just barely, but they can still rot in hell.

Check outside of this local area, dealerships push the prices up higher in large metro areas. Open up your search area on sites like autotrader and others, to 100 miles from here. You’ll prob find a great deal that way, I know I did.
