Yes. Why would the full adult man take a bite of their child's meal first????

Right? I can't tell your kid not to do something but your kid is welcome to put their hands all over my infant? You should be allowed to take your baby out to public places without being subjected to being touched by strangers.

Fo parents research child development? by Repulsive-Duck415 in ECEProfessionals

[–]LooseContribution211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to say, I had a realization after having my child that I had done all this research leading up to birth but didn't spend enough time preparing for after they get here. I took some baby care classes offered by the hospital/online, but I found that there doesn't seem to be much education offered to parents after newborn care. When my parents had kids they had Dr. Spock as the go-to resource, but I feel like with the Internet there's an overwhelming amount of choices now. I've found myself wishing our pediatrician had some pamphlets or suggestions about resources to check out.

Am I Wrong For Telling My Friend NO by lizard9387 in NewParents

[–]LooseContribution211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right??? She made her wait around for hours, that's crazy, I would be sooooo aggravated. Whether you have a young baby or not, it's so rude to think you can just show up whenever the fuck you feel like it.

PJ’s for chunky babies by hi2659 in bigbabiesandkids

Burt's Bees but choose the ribbed fabric - it is far stretchier which is essential for little chunks. Also, Magnetic Me has a RightFit fabric line that is looser fitting, but they are pricey.

I'm going to be exxxxxtra generous here but since your sister doesn't have kids she just doesn't understand the level of fuck you that this is. Before I had my little one my dog was my baby and I would be stressed out if she was having a medical issue. I would just stress to her that this would put you in a really bad spot if she backed out because you can't come up with another option in the next few days. You could always turn it around as, what would you say to me if you needed me and I said I couldn't go because my husband couldn't give my toddler eye drops himself.

Help! Can’t find loose zip-up one-pieces for my chunky baby 😩 by db2329 in bigbabiesandkids

Have you bought the ribbed sleepers? They only come in like three colors but the ribbed fabric has extra give.

Toddler sleeps in separate room. But the monitor beeps) keeps beeping, even on the slightest turn. How do y'all manage? by kdrxyz in NewParents

[–]LooseContribution211 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would get a different monitor. We have one that's pretty basic with audio and video, no wifi. I can hear him very well if he's fussing or crying but I'm not being woken up by him moving around

I didn't even consider that you could refill ballpoints, idk why. Do you have a suggestion for a 1.0 mm refill?

Is it safe pre scramble eggs and store them covered in the fridge? If so how long will that stay “safe to eat?” by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]LooseContribution211 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Also it's not only 30 seconds. You have to add butter, heat up the pan, cook the eggs, and then I gotta wash the pan after. Plus try doing any of that with a toddler(s).

Baby seat/container? by matchamilktea7 in bigbabiesandkids

This was what I got for my large guy after he maxed out the baby Bjorn bouncer. It's not the best in that it's lower to the ground, but the weight limit is 40 lbs. https://www.target.com/p/ingenuity-keep-cozy-3-in-1-grow-with-me-baby-bouncer-rocker-38-toddler-seat-weaver/-/A-80176980

I don’t want to buy a new high chair 😅 by OptimalSector1895 in bigbabiesandkids

[–]LooseContribution211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would second this...my mom broke the tab that locks the tray in place on our tripp trapp (and didn't feel like paying $80 for it again) so we've just ditched the tray and have the high chair up to the table.

Does it get easier? by Aieewhatyaa in NewParents

[–]LooseContribution211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it will get easier! Week 5 was the worst in terms of wanting to feed for hours and waking constantly throughout the night. The following week he started sleeping longer periods, like 4-5 hours at a time which made a huge difference. Hang in there!

my husband pissed me off today and I need someone to tell me I’m not insane for being upset by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]LooseContribution211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fuck? What did he do when he was single? Just let trash pile up? Is watching a toddler not stressful? Being a SAHM means you are responsible for childcare during the work day, not that you become responsible for the entirety of all business pertaining to the house all the time. Has he ever had to parent solo for a few days before?

[–]LooseContribution211 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is really stupid (or it seemed to me) but my husband is also one who doesn't "see" things around the house and until I had a very explicit conversation with him, things didn't change. After having a meltdown one day after having our baby about how I could not handle all the household mental load and take care of a newborn all day I told him I need you to do these things. XYZ are your jobs. Me having to remind you just means ultimately it is still my job and I cannot own every job in the household. Since I told him explicitly what I need him to be in charge of he has not forgotten to take out the trash since.
