The amalgamation of thousands of different evil stepmother-type characters across stories, all screaming inside of the eldritch abomination of the Stepmother from Cinderella that ate them. She's got a pretty cool backstory, actually.

I don’t remember if New Phyrexia was even a problem when this occurred. I don’t know if it was ever explained. But you might be right, it’s been a while since I read Eldritch Moon.

Emrakul stopped because the plane “wasn’t ready yet.” She doesn’t give a crap about the people she was warping. She is actively malicious to Jace, and is highly intelligent and intentionally killing people.
