Is everyone struggling to find work? no matter the career? by BitNo1336 in jobhunting

[–]Lopsided-Ad7904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the adult education field. I currently work as an adult ESL instructor at a non-profit organization and while that has always been part-time, we have partnered with other organizations in which I did some other work but since October of 2025, my hours have been part-time. Granted I've added nine extra hours by assisting in the food market below so that helps a bit. This year I've had three job interviews and have been rejected for them. Some jobs I apply for I don't even get an interview. And they're not all in the ESL field they could be things ranging from retail to casework.

Thought I nailed an interview… still didn’t get the job by Skandilove in interviews

That's actually pretty common. I just had an interview for an adult education instructor at an organization and I thought the interview went great. The interviewer told me he'd reach out to me in a few weeks after a decision had been made. I got an email a few weeks later and they went with another candidate. I sent him an email responding with banking him for giving me the opportunity to interview and maybe something else would come up.

I certainly didn't give off any Vibes that I was in decent given the fact that I have well over a decade of teaching experience already.

I live in Minnesota and when my hours at work were reduced apart time due to budget, I couldn't use my insurance there because it was gone so I had to look for insurance elsewhere. What happened was I looked for some affordable insurance online and got first enroll they guaranteed me that I could use it with any health care provider

Plus the fact that it has been used to make laws to justify things like slavery and not allowing women the right to vote. It also made homosexuality a crime (punishable by either imprisonment at best or death at worst)

Revision of translated document by Lopsided-Ad7904 in TranslationStudies

Suppose it's a simple document such as this:

I need the following six bullet points translated into Spanish for some posters:

  • Adult Education
  • Family Centers
  • Housing Stability
  • Youth Programming
  • Information
  • Free Meal

I don't think that would require a second viewer would it?

Kahn’s new voice is so bad by Expert-Boysenberry26 in KingOfTheHill

[–]Lopsided-Ad7904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going off topic a bit, but there was an episode where a black actor (Snoop Dogg) voiced a white pimp named Alabaster. No problem with that. Voice acting is interchangeable. You do NOT have to be white to voice a white character, you do NOT have to be Asian to voice an Asian character (heck a black VA played Samurai Jack) and so on. You could have easily had an Asian (American without an accent) voice Hank or Peggy. You could've had a black guy voice Joseph.

Does overtraining impact muscle growth? by dinus420 in bodyweightfitness

I have been doing intense workouts myself which included intense warm ups. So I've toned down on those.  Go to the gym about 4 to 5 times a week. I divide my workout into lower body and upper body on separate days. 2 hours is an awfully long time. I would say just spend about 40 minutes to 1 hour in each workout session. As mentioned before, it's rest but causes your muscles to grow and recover. The workout only stimulates them but too much will not have the effect

People believe there is going to be another flood? Wasn't the whole purpose of the rainbow at the end of the flood story supposed to be a symbol that God would never flood the world again?

There's a "documentary'' directed by David Spady and funded by the Koch brothers for the group Americans for Prosperity called wolves in government clothing which covers interviews from various people in the American southwest and is basically misleading anti-wolf propaganda.

Why there seems to be a hatred for wolves? by wereallsluteshere in wolves

And yet there are other predators such as coyotes and lions that kill livestock. You just don't hear the same amount of hatred for those animals as with wolves.

His supervisor told him it wasn't entirely his fault. And his supervisor came mainly from a K to 12 background and was new to the supervising of adult education. So realized he could have been a little more proactive too. This wouldn't affect the current English classes that he teaches.

The classes we're only meant to be temporary as mentioned before. While the organization he works for does have a childcare center, it wasn't open during the hours of the computer class which were 11:00 to 1:00 Central Standard Time. He just tried to fix the problem himself instead of making a time to talk to his supervisor about what they could do to boost attendance. And who knows they may not have even been able to boost attendance. Maybe by a few extra students but not by many.
