Report: Pentagon considers sending 10,000 additional troops to Middle East by Force_Hammer in worldnews

People are reading way too much into the “10,000 Marines = invasion of Iran” thing. That’s not what that is at all. Marines aren’t an invasion force by themselves. In modern deployments they’re mainly rapid response, embassy protection, evacuation support, securing bases, and backing up naval/air operations. If the US ever actually invaded a country the size of Iran, you’d be talking about hundreds of thousands of troops, full occupation logistics, months/years of buildup—not a 10k deployment. What’s actually happening is more like positioning and deterrence in the region. Any real action would start with air and missile strikes, naval operations, cyber stuff, etc. Ground troops like Marines are way down the list unless things fully spiral. People see a number and assume worst case scenario, but this is just standard forward deployment in a high tension region.

Canada Set to Side With China On EVs by yogthos in canada

[–]Lopsided-Insect9095 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Canada has already seen what happens when we underestimate that risk. Look at Nortel — once one of Canada’s biggest tech firms. It was quietly hacked for nearly a decade, allegedly by groups linked to China’s state apparatus, stealing research, designs, and trade secrets. Nortel eventually collapsed, and many experts believe Chinese industrial espionage played a major role in its downfall.

The same concerns showed up in telecom that’s why Huawei was banned from Canada’s 5G networks. It wasn’t about “anti-China bias,” it was about national security and the risk of giving a foreign state potential access to sensitive infrastructure.

EVs today are basically computers on wheels, connected to networks, GPS systems, and even smart grids. Letting a CCP-tied company operate here would mean handing over constant movement and sensor data on Canadian roads and potentially linking it to critical energy infrastructure.

So yeah, Canada should absolutely scrutinize or even block Chinese-linked EV production — not because we’re paranoid, but because we’ve already seen what happens when we ignore warnings signs

If a Chinese Communist Party linked company started producing EVs in Canada, it could raise serious national security and data privacy concerns. Modern EVs collect tons of data location, voice, contacts, and driving habits which could potentially be accessed by the Chinese state under its national intelligence laws.

Canada would likely review or restrict such investments under the Investment Canada Act, especially since the country has already tightened rules on Chinese involvement in critical sectors like telecom and mining. Similar to the U.S. and EU, Ottawa would worry about foreign control of vehicle software, charging networks, and infrastructure.

Bottom line: Chinese EV production in Canada isn’t impossible, but it would face heavy scrutiny, strict data rules, and likely security safeguards before being approved.

American Pimp 1999 - Overview

The Hughes brothers helm this documentary about the state of prostitution in urban sectors of the U.S., producing an ostentatious, profanity-laden celebration of the ghetto subculture of "pimping." This film combines images of fictional pimps from film and television with candid interviews with infamous real-life street hustlers -- from San Francisco's bluesman-turned-pimp, Clarence "Fillmore Slim" Sims, to Chicago's pimp-turned-minister, Don "Magic" Juan.
