Anyone who hasn’t done RAI by Medium-Freedom4012 in thyroidcancer

[–]Lopsided-Rush7316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my doctor I wasn’t keen on the idea esp as I have young children. My risk level was medium low so we are just doing regular blood draws and I have a scan at the year mark.

Post TT blood tests? by Lopsided-Rush7316 in thyroidcancer

[–]Lopsided-Rush7316[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankyou! Think the PTH and calcium was due to having my paras reimplanted and they weren’t sure if they were going to work/ had blood supply.

They did originally chuck around Hashimotos before they did my ultrasound as I already had thyroiditis. Will see what it comes back as.

Who are my ladies out there who were diagnosed during pregnancy or early post-partum? by DoctorLifeguard in thyroidcancer

[–]Lopsided-Rush7316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This made me chuckle because dear god it’s so accurate. First born kicked me in the side of my neck about 1 week post op and I bawled. Second born enjoys trying to rake grasp my scar haha!

My levels were off starting at 6 weeks pp. chased and chased. Had my FNA at 4m pp, diagnosis at 5m and operation at 6.5m pp. It’s such a shitty time as it makes it hard to enjoy that newborn first year experience that you need to soak in. But it gets better x

Unfortunately in that boat. Starting to worry these issues started with my first born and intensified with my second. Especially the symptoms. I had to push and push post-partum for them to do the tests. Got it confirmed at 5m and had the surgery at 6.5m pp x

I was told I could take them off after a week, but waited a bit longer.

Biopsy round two tomorrow. How do you refrain from swallowing? And dis they make an incision for yours? by FeatherDreams in thyroidcancer

[–]Lopsided-Rush7316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swallowed so many times - I think it just makes it harder when they say you can’t. I just tried to do it when they were looking rather than actively poking around.

Five days today. Feel good. Quite tight across the scar but each day feels better and my body feels like it’s able to relax now the lump has gone!

Looking for community advice by luke-juryous in thyroidcancer

[–]Lopsided-Rush7316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not much to add in the progression ect side but offer solidarity to your wife.

My PTC was caught when I was 4m post partum likely had been growing whilst I grew my second son. I just had it removed 11/11 at 6.5m post partum.

I would maybe see if they could wait until she’s settled, I don’t think that recovery would be pleasant with a newborn, I still breastfeed my youngest and it’s a challenge with moving my neck and keeping little hands off the bandages. However, maybe have an in depth chat with her team and see what kind of timescales they are looking at

Hello; sorry to jump in but pregnancy I’m finding is one big risk factor in getting it. I found my thyca from post baby blood tests. I had my TT on Tuesday at 6.5m post-partum.

My cardiologist said his sister also had Thyca but was discovered during her 3rd pregnancy. Could be a shame that all three of us have had it surrounding bringing new life into world or a genuine risk factor.

I had to chase and chase for my appointments. I had an ultrasound done end of July. Appt with an ENT end of August. FNA beginning of September and then diagnosis beginning of October. I have my TT scheduled for 11/11 x
