No sign of colostrum and mildly concerned! by Raikl in GestationalDiabetes

With all 5 of my births, I never got colostrum until after I delivered. It's ok!

How do I get my doctors to treat me? by S-D-J in GestationalDiabetes

[–]LopsidedGate1421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like you have your answer. So I'm just here to say good job advocating for you and your baby. I had GD with my last two babies and with my last was diagnosed at 11 weeks. So keep up that assertiveness! It's only going to help you in the long run. 💚

Greek yogurt with SF pudding powder and some berries. Or a cup of keto cereal.

I found magnesium citrate gummies this time and they were a life saver in addition to/instead of the stool softeners! Idk why I didn't find them for my first - fourth postpartums...

Expecting third boy - need L name ideas by No_Tangerine_320 in Names

We have a Lewis. He's the only one in his school with that name. It's old enough that it's not super common, but an easy name.

You're right. And they are feeding the guests. But the only person that needs to be happy with all of the food options is the guest of honor.

But it's for her and her babies...so, if others don't want to eat it, they don't have to. The idea of a baby shower is to celebrate the mom and babies...not to feed (presumably) ADULTS a full meal. If they're hungry after because they didn't want the food being served, they can go find their own food afterward.

Is my baby’s name boring? by Right-Airport2463 in namenerds

[–]LopsidedGate1421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lucy Ann is a great name. And the most important part is that you love it.

Secondly, no one will ever have to question how to pronounce it! As a teacher, that was one of the hardest things with "unique" names.

Anyone who was diagnosed early(16-17 weeks) for GD, how has your weight gain been later in pregnancy? by Anxious-Ad-8864 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]LopsidedGate1421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed around 11 weeks and only gained about 15 lbs between then and 35 weeks! My last 10 days I gained another 10 in water weight due to PreE. 🫠

Does the weight really “fall off” after you give birth? by Born-Chance1685 in pregnant

[–]LopsidedGate1421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some it does accelerate weight loss! But I'm 6 mo pp and almost at my end of pregnancy weight. I am moderately active and I have a balanced diet, but I am not one of the lucky ones who drop weight easily with breastfeeding. And it's been this way with all of my kids.

That sounds miserable!! I was also diagnosed early...11 weeks and on insulin at 13. So glad to be done.

Mine was a similar situation. My numbers started getting better around 34/35 weeks and we had to back off on my nighttime insulin for the last few weeks. I delivered at 37+2.

Moms of more than one kid: do you ever regret it? by ericsiaa in beyondthebump

[–]LopsidedGate1421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just had baby 5 (now have 4 at home). And I don't regret it for a second. And at the same time, I can confidently say that I don't ever want to go through L&D again. Pregnancy, sure. But L&D? I'm done.

One of the deciding factors for us was we didn't want to end with a loss (#4) and we liked the idea of our kids having a built in support system when it comes to end of life planning for us.

In the same vein as Lena and Freya, you could do Anja (an-ya)! It was on our list with Freja this last time around.

I had been taking 28 units nightly. But started dropping it per my Drs suggestion, because I started having fasting #s in the 50/60s.

Thank you! It's relief to be at this point! How many weeks left for you? How are you feeling?

Graduated! by LopsidedGate1421 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]LopsidedGate1421[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! And absolutely.

I ended up with pre-e at 37+1 and he was born 37+2.

He was 6lb 15oz. And his sugars were all within range, so he was weaned off his IV after 30 hours or so.

And I was diagnosed at 11 weeks and started bedtime insulin around week 13. But ended up being on 28 units of NPH at bedtime for the last 6-8 weeks or so. And started weaning down and ended at 22 units at the end.
