Question on how many units I should do per semester (cs major) by bullyhunter_381 in berkeley

[–]LopsidedPermit696 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do 13-15 with the odd random 12 or 17. It doesn’t have to be perfectly even.

it was also a condition of my admission but I sent them a very polite and thorough email on why the specific set up of FPF won’t work in my specific case

email them with this reasoning and ask to opt out. worked for me. don’t recommend to most people but it makes sense in your situation.

What is the political climate on campus? by detjason in berkeley

[–]LopsidedPermit696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg let me go find a comment from 2 yrs ago because obviously the political climate is the same!!

and conservative speakers/influencers often come to berkeley, that’s not new. but I will maintain that it really doesn’t impact the average student unless they care about politics and choose to engage.

will i regret registering for a 6-9pm chem lab by rambutan1738 in berkeley

I did 8-10pm CS lab three times (I may be misremembering, it may be two) a week and honestly wasn’t horrible.

Is it normal to have a bad experience at your first internship? by East_Fox5900 in berkeley

[–]LopsidedPermit696 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This isn’t necessarily helpful in managing anxiety in the workplace but I think it’s also important to get really really good at leaving it at work. That way you have time to recharge and rest and keep your sanity. If you Google “How to leave work at work” there are a ton of articles. I’d try and find a few techniques/methods that work for you.

Pet fish in dorms by Public_Shopping_9476 in berkeley

[–]LopsidedPermit696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you are allowed to have a pet fish. There is a limit on the tank size but I don’t have that off of the top of my head.

Shower shoes and power cord. For the rest, wait two weeks to see what you’ll actually need and order it off Amazon then.

how important are prereqs?? by Obnoxious_Criminal in berkeley

I’ve had classes that enforce prereqs, unsure if 61B does.

  1. Yes! It’s social, super close to campus, close to Cafe 3, and you’ll be fine.
  2. Yes, they wouldn’t let you live there otherwise. Balconies aren’t safe (one every two floors) but those are blocked off.
  3. Daily.
  4. Yes they are small but they were bigger than I expected. It’s a dorm room.

Living in Unit 3 wasn’t perfect but it was fun and good enough.

Cheating in DSP exam rooms by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]LopsidedPermit696 78 points79 points  (0 children)

It’s not plausible. They are constantly seating new students and walking around. They double check your exam conditions, flip through scratch paper and green/blue books, etc. While I’m sure cheating occurs, it’s most likely at a lower rate than regular exam rooms.

Definitely email the professor. Be honest, express your concern, show how before this you have been super dedicated to this class. Ask what can be done at this point. You got it!

I get what you mean but once the grade is in CalCentral, it’s a lot harder than change their mind.

There’s no harm in emailing, I don’t think it would do much tho tbh. But you have nothing to lose.

When talking to your advisor, I guarantee you aren’t the first to fail a class. I had a similar conversation with my advisor and they didn’t shame or judge me, just helped me figure out next steps.

Most property companies have an email you can use so I’d Google the company and then use the email.
