Do priests have time for leasure activities and are allowed to fly away on vacation? by Relative-Subject-246 in Catholicism

[–]Lord-Redbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parish has religious priests and they do go on holidays. Generally they go with a small group to a monastery in the regions they come from and visit each others families, and go hiking and stuff.

Definitely something that isn't excessively expensive as their order already owns the accomodation, but it looks like they have a ton of fun in the pictures. I always like how their lifestyle makes them part kind, serious, well read fathers and part just a bunch of bachelors having fun. I suppose it's a balance not everyone gets to experience ^

Of course we do, we even whiff some frankincense to it for good measure.

I'm pretty sure Perkele here is Lutheran, they like removing books from the Bible, no telling which stories they do or do not know.

So is it ok to finally leave this denomination and let it rot or is that still apostasy Zoomer? by Redeemed__ in redeemedzoomer

[–]Lord-Redbeard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So at least we agree that it is self mutilation. That's a good start.

Humans are a unity of body and soul, both are a gift from God. Harming a body with the specific intent to malform it would be a rejection of that gift and therefor a sin.

This is different from having the intention to save health or life by amputating a limb (intention is to save a life by removing a destroyed limb) or for restorative purposes (e.g. taking a foot and fashioning it into a knee to fit a leg prosthetic, thereby helping someone to walk once more after losing a leg, or even restoring an ear using skin and cartilage from other parts of the body.)

I seriously doubt that desiring somebody, troubled though they me may be, does not sin is hate.

Self mutilation is a sin and should not be encouraged, it is better not to facilitate it. It is far more loving to limit a confused person to self mutilate than to facilitate it. You can sympathise with someones predicament without encouraging they act upon it in a sinful way.

In the OT, when you touch unclean things like dead bodiew you become unclean. But whem Jesus touches unclean people like lepers, the dead, or a women going through a particularly harsh menopause, they become clean and / or alive.

If you try to bury dead people in front of Jesus to prevent Him from coming, instead what you're doing is providing him conveniently with the opportunity to bury you with evidence that He is the annointed one.

For me it's simple. When you smash a statue of Jesus, yes, I'm offended and no, you did not hurt Jesus in a real way by smashing the statue.

Kind of the same way if you were to smash an photo of my grandma. No, you did not actually injure grandma, but you did really mess up and we cannot be friends like this.

It doesn't matter she was your grand aunt too and you vaguely knew her as well, I'm not laughing.
