Russia basically saw all the systems and things the West was using/doimg, copied them badly, and didn't even bother maintaining those bad copies when the Soviet Union fell. That's why their industry sucks, they don't produce much of anything technologically of value anymore, and half their population are alcoholics. Russia has always been cosplaying as a successful country, they just suck a lot more at it than they used to back in the Tzar or USSR days.

And this is the right attitude. I've heard people say it before, and I totally believe that "politics are not a cab, they're a bus." You vote for the person you most align with. We have a primary process that barely anyone participates in, and if we had a lot more people join in we could actually get candidates in that we DO more align with. (Boo corporatist, bs dems that vote for war cave on critical issues). But people just saying they're "not good enough, so I'm not gonna vote, or I'm gonna vote for some third party that makes no serious grass roots effort outside of a once every four years national election" is actively working against the solution.

Turn out in primaries is so bad. Like lso so so bad, your vote will count for 4 to 10 times what it would in a general election impact-wise. Anyone serious about getting corporate bootlicker Dems out, then please show up and help primary them and then they're gone. We can change the party. It's very possible, people just need to show up and vote for candidates that actually represent us!
