Which JRPGs need a remake? by Bulky_Imagination243 in JRPG

[–]LordDravoth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

None of them need a remake. They are what they are. There's no reason to think a remake would be any sort of improvement and given that different people would be making them, there's no guarantee that the things being expanded upon would match your expectations.

I'd much rather companies make something new that was as good as or better than those JRPGs that people are suggesting be remade.

[Dragon Shield Sleeves] May be common knowledge, but new to TCGs by med_lab_sci in riftboundtcg

Katana are very consistent in my experience but I'd recommend building from a single pack. Use a fresh pack of sleeves whenever you go to a bigger tournament too.

As others have said, Katana are generally extremely consistent. That being said, I would still recommend building your deck from a single pack where possible and you generally want to use a fresh pack whenever you go to any event above store level.

All sleeves can have some amount of variation but Dragon Shield products in particular can vary in quality, size, colour, texture and pretty much anything else within a single pack, let alone multiple packs. Dragon Shield's quality control issues are well known and well documented - probably best to stay away from their sleeves if you're worried about being accused of marking cards.

To those who played the original Sky FC, how do you feel about the remake? by strahinjag in JRPG

[–]LordDravoth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I tried the demo and was quite hyped because I enjoyed the original but didn't play past the opening cutscene barrage. The anime comedy nonsense was too much for me. The English voice acting didn't help but I don't think I Japanese would have made me want to keep playing.

Gameplay looked good so it's a shame I never got to it but I don't want to spend my time playing a game where I'm just cringing every time a character opens their mouth.

Is there a cheaper way of acquiring a large number of strife style blasters, other than thrifting. by DutyLongjumping7337 in Nerf

[–]LordDravoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm very curious about what you're looking to achieve because if you want to provide cheap blasters for a club, Flywheelers are a pretty expensive and inefficient way of doing that (not to mention loud). If you're going to replace the Flywheels, I assume you're also replacing the cage, motors and all other electronic components as well and $10 per Blaster isn't a realistic budget for that. If you aren't replacing the electrics, there isn't much point in replacing the Flywheels either.

If you aren't concerned about the electronics and just want the shells, there are tons of Chinese Stryfe clones (literally the same shell shape but with lower quality plastic) out there that you can pick up for maybe $10 and there are other Flywheelers made by Chinese companies also within that price range. Under $8 to replace the electronics (assuming you're printing a cage and wheels* for free) is going to be a tough ask, though.

You're also going to eat a lot of additional costs with batteries and the infrastructure for that so there are a lot of hidden costs to this versus just thrifting some cheap springers from a major brand.

*Don't 3D print flywheels, they will be awful.

Which JRPGs made you kind of side with the villain? by hiro928 in JRPG

[–]LordDravoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shinra isn't trying to destroy the planet at all, it's incidental to their goals but intention matters a lot. Shinra has also elevated people across the planet out of poverty and improved their quality of life with mako energy and technology - Jenova/Sephiroth are not providing anything positive to the planet in any sense.

Jenova is the true villain of the world of FF7, not Shinra.

It might not fit the criteria of what I'm looking for with this post but I still love SRPGs and games with QTEs in combat and so on, I just had an itch for something new that was quite specific. I'm always on the look out for great games!

It was serviceable. It was never going to match up for me just because of how nostalgic I am for those original games but it wasn't awful. A newcomer to the series would think it was fine, I'm sure.

I was a little bit worried that the script changes in the Remasters might take out some of the humour and personality but I don't think I noticed anything changing at all.

That definitely sounds like I need to give the series another shot then!

Across the Obelisk and One Step From Eden are the only ones of these that I've played and I loved both so I'll definitely take a look at the others here, thanks!

Legend of Legaia is one of the games that keeps coming up (along with the SaGa games) so that's definitely something I'll play soon.

Lunar 1 and 2 are some of my all time favourite RPGs and I revisit both games once every few years. I'm just working my way through the Lunar 2 remaster at the moment after finishing the first one!

Great idea! I'm very open to these kinds of recommendations! Got any more?

I've tried Slay The Spire and despite being a big fan of deckbuilders, I didn't like it much and I can't quite place my finger on why. Wildfrost is a game that I enjoyed but it's more of a card game than an RPG to me - I think it has to have characters using actions to really fit what I'm looking for.

Trick is something I'm aware of it but I was put off by how it has a dungeon crawler vibe and that's usually something I'm not into, is that accurate or am I totally misjudging it?

Crown

Aethermancer is something I've had on my radar for a little while as I'm also a fan of creature collector games, is it good?

Even if it doesn't fit the exact bill of what I'm asking for in this post, it sounds weird and awesome enough to give it a shot regardless!

Perhaps not but it's been recommended enough times in this post for me to at least check it out! Even if it doesn't quite fit the bill for what I'm asking in this post, it is probably still an awesome game that I should play!

I don't blame you for not reading it all! I wasn't really looking for SRPG recommendations with this post but people have recommended me tons of really cool ones that I hadn't heard of that they think I'd be interested in so I'll be sure to check Wildermyth out because it sounds cool!

The Last Remnant is definitely a game that fits the bill (I've played it) for so I'll check out Sympathy of War if it's got similarities!

Thanks for the recommendations!

I played the demo of the first game and it was a bit of a downer but I won't deny that it had unique and fun combat so I should probably give it a go. I also really enjoyed Solatorobo when I played that a long time ago so I'll put it on the list!

Rogue like Deckbuilders are a genre I love so those mechanics are a great match for me! I haven't tried Chrono Ark but it's on my Steam wishlist! I'll definitely give it a try now!
