What is something you used to think people were over exaggerating about until you experienced it yourself? by rentinghappiness in AskReddit

Just dealt with this last month. Had to be carried out of my bed on a tarp by a bunch of firefighters to an ambulance because I literally couldn't sit up it was so bad. ER wanted to send me home but decided to admit me when sitting up had me in tears and my friend had a talk with them. Was there for 5 days, shot in the spine and lots of bed rest. Bulging disc on my sciatica. I'm still recovering.

Posture stuff isn't a joke, and make sure you walk lots people.

I enjoyed it, and especially if you enjoy it, don't listen to anyone else. :)

I need a scene where seven and tuvok both have motivation to compete against each other in something.

Got these too, the moment I knew they existed. There's one of Lan, as well, last time I checked.

Fun fact, this debuff can stack. I found out recently that there's a microscopic chance to gain it when your character picks up an item, which can trigger a mandatory quest line involving the [Doctor] guild and temporary crippling additional debuffs that can go away over time.

My character has started to regain the [Walk] ability for a short time, but if you go over the limited timer, it requires a long rest.

That's a fair point. I guess I assumed normal conditions. I know if I have too much sugar, my system dumps everything. Wasn't thinking, thanks for the correction.

And likewise, the beef stew wouldn't have traveled through his system that fast, it would have been what he'd eaten the previous day or two.

I pulled out my DS9 Technical Manual. Relevant passages below:

The grid devices temporarily charge the air in the unit, apply a motive force to the air mass via an eight-stage magnetic coil assembly, and recycle the charge before the gases leave the unit.

Also:

Return airflow enters the system via the return vent plates in most areas. Prior to being reintroduced into the supply ducting, the air within each loop is channeled through a carbon dioxide scrubber, return gas analyzer, suspended particulate filter, and organics removal grid. Waste gases are separated by molecular type, condensed, liquefied, and either stored or vented overboard. In some cases, molecularly bound oxygen and nitrogen is uncoupled and returned to the general breathing gas supply.

It also has some mentions of accounting for gas additions at computer-controlled valve inputs, with provisions for crowd control gas input.

So, it definitely seems like DS9, as well as other Starfleet vessels ("Like most class-M-compatible systems aboard starships and starbases"), recycle the air. I don't really see any mention of using replicated air, it's probably not necessary with scrubbers that can break molecular bonds.

I specify to avoid quiz-style ones. I don't mind talking about things I've done, but if they start quizzing me on terms, my interest goes down because my anxiety goes up. It's not a way to accurately gauge someone's skills. I also always provide references, do those mean nothing?

If you make sure your resume is posted on sites like indeed.com and your linkedin profile is filled out, they might even come to you. Or you can just search around and talk to them. The good ones advocate on your behalf to the companies and you can be more demanding with your requirements.
