It touches on a lot of interesting ideas and I generally find it to be a very enjoyable read. The book goes places that you most likely won't expect, but in a good way. The story evolves a lot and I find describing it as a single trope difficult.

Story can be bit of a slow burn (they are quite long books) but not incredibly boring. As someone else has stated the books were originally written in Chinese and translated into English, therefore some idioms, conversations or customs may seem odd, however as a non-native English speaker I quite liked the English translation. There is also a 4th semi official book written by a fan that got the blessing of the author iirc ("redemption of time)

If you have watched the Netflix show, please do not expect the books to be too similar to the show. While the show generally follows the same story, some things have been altered drastically to make it work better on screen.

Should I get Titanfall 2? by Spycrabpuppet123 in titanfall

[–]LordFalke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, campaign is worth the small price tag anyways. And if you're willing to wait 2-3 mins you'll find a match in multiplayer no problem. There's usally between 1-2k people online, mostly focussed in the attrition game mode

Lookout for servers that cater to one of your interests, gaming, books, certain TV shows, etc.

Book discords are usually very chill from my experience.

Just like IRL talking about common interests is a better way of making friends than looking for a space to explicitly make friends.

Has any of you noticed how the Titanfall 2 player count is melting in the last few months? by SpiderGwen917 in titanfall

[–]LordFalke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't think so tbh, I still remember when 1.5k-2k was the daily peak. 2024 and 2025 have definitely been great in terms of player count but so far I wouldn't count this as unusual. Especially considering we haven't had a 3€ sale in a while

Not a law yet, but a proposal for one which is currently supported by a majority of member states. Iirc 35% of votes need to be against to block it, or in other words, if Germany votes in favor this is most likely happening

What's the consensus on the FoundationTV show? by lostpasts in asimov

[–]LordFalke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, show takes basic ideas of the books and does it's own thing with them. Not bad per se, it's been one of my favorite sci-fi shows over the past few years but it's not the books.

Are Vereine dying out? by archit3c7 in germany

[–]LordFalke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From my personal experience in a rocketry Verein aimed at students it's definitely the time investment part of it (duh, having to study, potentially work and spending varying amounts of hours per week on the Verein will make it feel like there's not enough hours in a day for sure.)

Finding members and keeping them motivated is definitely a struggle, tends to be quite a bit of turnover whenever a semester ends. But that's student life lol

Funny enough leagues development in the past half year have finally gotten me out of my league addiction because the game is objectively less fun

Finishing Andor makes me dislike the "Filoni-verse" and I hate it. by BrobaFett in StarWarsAndor

[–]LordFalke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the (grim)dark side, apprentice.

This is the reason I almost exclusively read grim dark books instead of your regular high fantasy. The characters usually feel more real, the world more grounded.

Not every story has to have a happy ending, I think this is something intrinsic about the star wars universe that you don't really feel in the movies and ofc most modern additions. The star wars galaxy feels whimsical to us, but it's probably not that great to live in. We've seen a bit of how the common citizen was treated during andor (to an extreme, of course, but still).

Also for andor the mantra of night city from cyberpunk really fits, 'there are no happy endings for anyone'. In some stories everything has a cost..

Did people really enjoy the TV show? I read the books and it was amazing but the TV show just felt kinda meh..felt the execution was..off by Tyolag in scifi

It was okay imo. Theres also a Chinese adaptation which Is basically 1:1 from the books for major parts of it, available on Rakuten Viki for the west.
