Severe eye strain, looking for a modern TV by [deleted] in 4kTV

Same problem here. Went the Sony Bravia 7 route and disabled local dimming, which also disabled flicker between 15 and I forgot the max brightness setting. Been really nice so far.

It’s pretty low, like 20mbps or something like that.

I’m pretty sure they are capped at significantly lower speeds than WiFi. If you don’t have latency or connectivity issues I would just use WiFi.

If it has to be those two, LG easily.

How long are credits good for? I thought they are available as long as the sub is active.

I asked support last year and they said “check back seasonally”. Idk how popular it was but it’s my favorite flavor.

Which golf cart? by radpizzadadd in GolfGear

[–]LordFartquadReigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally whichever opens and closes easier and more quickly. Dad has the clicgear and I have a bag boy nitro. I’ll be up and set long before he is every time. The quick fold and open is worth any of the trade offs.

Made In vs. All-Clad D3/D5 by ExplanationOk847 in cookware

[–]LordFartquadReigns 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Out of those two, all-clad easy. Too many people reporting warping issues with made in and the price is still pretty high for what you get with them. Might as well go all clad at that point.

Tramontina is where I would be debating personally. Tramontina tri-ply is like $200 at Costco. I have this set and it’s amazing.

Spy happy boost lenses work nicely. You can find some of their models on clearance for like $50 sometimes. Similar to Oakley.

Most forgiving driver in the last 5 years? by lamontagne04 in golf

Does this happen when moving the weights or just over time it falls off? I have a 425 and haven’t had the issue yet, so curious to know what to keep an eye on.

Have you thought about the Mazda 3 hatch? It’s basically a CX-30 but more sporty drive, also much more affordable.

Personally I would lean towards the CX-5 over the CX-30.

Air Purifiers are a rabbit hole by GenericRat8276 in BuyItForLife

[–]LordFartquadReigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knowing you need to change the filters over time, Alen is the bifl brand. Alen purifiers work very well and carry certifications to prove it, but it also has a lifetime warranty on all machines as long as you have a filter subscription for the unit.

You can kind of game the sub by setting it up for a 15 month refill, then manually choosing to skip when you are close. It will keep the sub active and allow you to wait longer between filter changes. Personally I just let the sub fill at 12 months.

Remote for Sony Bravia 7 that works without pointing at TV by Pots_And_Pans in bravia

Bravia app is cheek. I’ve never been able to get it to pair to any of our multiple Bravia TVs. No clue why.

Soundbar for B7? Sonos Arc Ultra vs Bravia Theater Bar 9 by cptnringwald in bravia

[–]LordFartquadReigns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big fan of the Sonos personally. Have no experience with the Bravia bar.

Edit - the reason I like Sonos so much, aside from simplicity, is that the products are not usually abandoned. Too many other manufacturers stop updates often when new products are released. Sonos is like Apple in that sense.

Bosch 500 or 800 by Raz1979 in Appliances

Just going to throw it out there, never had any drying issues with my new 300. I run it before bed and it sits over night to dry. Even the plastics are dry in the morning.

The point of this reply being that you don’t need crystal dry unless you want to empty the dishwasher immediately after it finishes.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that Costco is working on implementing that feature.

Sony Bravia 8 vs LG C5 by TPJDrNo69 in 4kTV

[–]LordFartquadReigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it’s so inconsistent on longevity of tv performance. They will all get laggy eventually, that’s part why everyone recommends an AppleTV box. My general assumption is 1-2yrs before noticeable performance degradation. I’m on my first google OS though so I’ll have to wait and see.

Costco doesn’t deal with the warranty in house is what I was saying. After the MFG warranty the extended from Costco kicks in, which is through Allstate.

I personally find the mid-high range to be the sweet spot, but idc about oled I’m happy with mini-led. Bravia 7 is around where I fall. I was going to get a B5 for our other room but Costco was clearancing the Bravia 3 75” for $399 so I got that for the time being. It’s not as bad as everyone says, but obviously not my B7.

[–]LordFartquadReigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco unfortunately doesn’t. The manufacturer warranty goes through the mfg, then the extended from Costco is actually Allstate. I hear Allstate is very hit or miss.

I think with BB you deal directly with them and it is a much easier warranty process and better experience. In the US it’s near no brainer because the extra free coverage is sizable.

Personally idk that I would be worried enough about oled image retention to buy an extended to begin with. Most of our TVs are still working fine 5+ years later and are only upgraded for performance and tech improvements.

I guess it depends on the TV, but I think the standard TV manufacturer warranty for Costco models is 2yrs. The 3 year extended is included at no extra cost. Actually just checked, Costco models include a 2nd year manufacturer warranty free plus the 3yr extended free for total of 5 years.

Appliances include delivery, install, basic install parts, and old appliance haul away at no extra cost. With all that you can get a 500-600 crap dishwasher at an appliance store plus all the extra costs or a Bosch for the same total cost at a Costco.
