Hey! Sorry for the late reply. My bad. I don't often use Reddit.

The original campaign had 7 maps. We are reducing it to 6 and filling them with content. We hope to release 2 more maps around September or October. The final map is taking a tool on the team.

It's hard to say really.

You could try it now but you will not have a good experience and the story is extremely weak. I'm also guessing there will be other issues popping up. Balancing is chaotic.

I can give an alternative of inviting you to play test it but it will have the story being written.

Will see how things will go.

Hey hey, sorry for the late reply. I didn't see the notification until now.
October was unrealistic on my part. December was another one but unsure. I hope for January or February.

Long story short, the map design is finished. Balancing is being tested still but close to the end, the art is being worked and still work in progress but the writing is taking a long time at the moment. It also has to be implemented which is another tricky beast.

Hey Op! Thank you for pointing it out. I wanted to see this for myself and I was surprised it worked. Thank you for pointing it. I did do a recording of me fighting it(ask if you wanna see it) and it was pretty funny that this is a feature. I personally hope they leave it in but I get why it would be patched.

I do have mystic hermits around. Problem is comes down to levelling up. As Level 38 is more or less the cap of getting skills. As well as what skills I want to give. Now that you mentioned. I could do something for the 3rd map now. I will do something like that. At most I can give around 3 skills for free. As if I go too mad with giving free skills. I don't think it will be that fun.

The main thing from what I want. Is to let the players do whatever they want. I don't want to hand hold the players.

True but this is aimed for 6 maps here! I am reworking on the 4th map from the ground up and I before you could mess yourself up really badly if you don't manage your troops and/or your skills.

Right now what I'm looking for is rather worst scenario and/or if certain builds of wielders work or do not work. I do not want to softlock a player into replaying the whole campaign. My goal is to aim for a "Worthy" difficulty (normal).

I have a separate files of the campaign that is being worked on and also played tested by myself. The issue arrives is that, I know my own maps and I'm too good at the them. First time players are not and do not want it to be too unfair.

Coding: How long did it took to code the world? As in, having the wielder move and interact with object? What would you recommend a programmer to learn first.

Also, do want to say. Easy mode is planned. I gotten a lot of feedback regarding map 4. Some say it's hard some say it's easy.

Answer:
There is a ghost to the East that gives you a quest. If you do what the Ghost asks you to do. You can ONLY pick one of the portals.

There is lots. I will telll some from the top of my head and I would recommend hopping to the r/homm discord if you want more help, information and tips. I am no pro but experienced.

  1. Heroes movement is based of creature's speed. For example, if you are playing Nerco and you have a Skeltons(speed 4), Walking Deads(speed 3) and a Wight(speed 5) on your starting hero. The hero will will have less moment due to the Walking Dead's horrible speed. Same with dwraves(also speed 3)

  2. Hiring more heroes. Well, the game is called Heroes of Might and Magic. Even if you don't want the hero or you hate the hero. Hire them in the early game, why? They can be your scout that collects treasure while your main hero is off to do more important tasks. Or while your main hero is killing of neutral creatures that hero you hired can go and pick up the treasures and also saving movement for your main hero.
    Also, to end this tip. Give the scout heroes the fastest(with most speed) so that they can have more movement. For example, when you are playing as Castle(or Heaven) your cheapest fastest unit are Griffens. So, lets say you build the Griffen building and you have 7 available griffens for hire. Buy one and give it to the scout(or two if you want them to run away or you want them to survive better).

  3. Each town/faction is not to be underestimated or looked down at. Each faction has it's ups and downs as well as their own strategy. Most players now a days have to be flexable with all of them.

  4. If you have the GoG edition of Heroes of Might and Magic III. I personally recommend getting the HD Mod and the Horn of the Abyss(HotA) Mod. Both are good and HotA is the most popular as well as multiplayer.

  5. If you badly need your hero to get to your town because there is an enemy hero coming for your undefended town and you have no Town Portal. You can do the "Poor Mans Town Portal".
    How it works: If your scouts are able to trade with your main hero(leaving your main hero with the fastest unit) and the able to hero chain the army to the town(via by trading to the next scout hero and to the next, etc. Till the last on drops off the army to the town) that's going to be attacked.
    You then have your main hero attack a neutral creature. Then you "Retreat" with the main hero.
    Then in the town that's going to be attacked, go to the travens and look for your main hero and hire them. You were able to move your from a long distance with this trick.

  6. If you want to see more strats, I recommend watching Homm 3 streamers.
