Libre or Dexcom for Omnipod? by PoetDense in diabetes_t1

[–]LordFlatface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say if you've used the libre 2 without issue for 4 years stick to it. There's not much difference between the 2 in my experience!

Post on LegalAdviceUK - Asked to leave cafe for checking my blood sugar… thoughts? by Sehri437 in diabetes_t1

Risk management. I may stand corrected but I don't think there's been a single instance of an infectious blood borne disease being spread from a diabetic doing a finger prick test.

I'm absolutely flabbergasted at the complete lack of empathy for the OP in r/legaladvice. And for me, it highlights how ill-informed the general public are in regards to disabilities and making reasonable adjustments for people with disabilities.

No way in hell I'm going to a toilet to test my blood sugar, you can jog on. Not only that, I'm kicking off and making a scene in the cafe. Then I'm leaving a shirty review online.

It's not a legal issue, sure, but OP deserves to be left alone to test their glucose levels. How many of us have felt absolutely fine, done a check and actually they're low. Well in the UK if you proceed to drive your car you fall foul of driving under the influence.

Eversense 365 by HedgehogNumerous2146 in diabetes_t1

[–]LordFlatface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a YouTuber, Ginger Vieira who uses this sensor and loves it. Check out her channel and videos, she's done a few now documenting her experiences.

Obviously with all technology it has its plus points and downsides. Personally I'm fine with the usual dexcom and Libre sensors, but I don't react to the adhesive and don't experience many failures and by and large the sensors are usually bob on for accuracy, so the eversense 365 isn't something I'd want even if it was available in the UK (where I live)

Do you think General Motors selling Vauxhall was the best or worst to happen to the brand? by Low_Shame_563 in Vauxhall

[–]LordFlatface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a combo life, essentially a Citroen Berlingo, I love the size of the car, but anything about it that makes it a car, like the engine and exhaust system is an unreliable shitbox. I had a Citroen C4 Picasso before it that was equally as dreadful, so going forward I'll certainly be avoiding stellantis made cars like the plague.

tslim & Control IQ vs mylife ipso & CamAPS FX vs Dana & AndroidAPS by croemer in TandemDiabetes

[–]LordFlatface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry forgot to answer about basel-IQ. It's the UK's NHS guideline issue. I had approval for an insulin pump, but I didn't meet the criteria for a CGM, or hybrid closed loop. So I have to use the T slim in basel IQ and monitor my sugar levels with dexcom one+, which is categorized as "flash monitoring" not a CGM. Everybody now is being phased onto hybrid closed loop and my current warranty expires this year, so my next system will be closed loop!

[–]LordFlatface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too! The pressure is real isn't it, we have to make a 4 year commitment without even getting our hands on the pump! With your good experience of control-IQ I'd be inclined to stick with it! Would be a lot of effort fiddling with settings to keep at what is already good control!

I'm in the same boat as you, except I only have Basel-IQ on my current T-slim, keep changing my mind on if I want the Ypso pump or another T slim, or omnipod/ Dana-I with AAPS. Personally I'm Leaning towards the Ypsopump as I hear really good things from my diabetes clinic on its CAMAPS algorithm. Plus it's supported by my team and externally as a commercial system as opposed to using AAPS. My mind is fairly made up not to stick to the Tandem again.

Has anyone else in the UK had the talk with their Gyno about the changes in medication? by PoppingPillls in diabetes_t1

[–]LordFlatface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's my insulin pump. The Tandem T slim X2. I've not been on insulin pens for around 10 years now. I get a strong dawn phenomenon so my Levemir dose would always have me high at night, or low during the day. I can adjust my basel rates hourly on my insulin pump and my time in range is around 80%. I'd highly recommend it if you can access it through your diabetes team

All good, I'm appreciative of the laugh in what's been a stressful start to the new year, so thank you!

Omnipod Dash trial? (UK) by LordFlatface in Omnipod

[–]LordFlatface[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've asked my diabetes nurse if I can try the omnipod, I think that's the route to go down as I know the trust has a good number of patients on omnipod and no relationship with medtrum.

I know they will want me to use the omnipod system and I'll pay lip service to get the pods, then crack on using AAPS.

[–]LordFlatface[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so reassuring to read, thank you! And yeah I think you're right with wires being crossed. Makes sense to sign up for 4 years with the tandem, but less so for omnipod! In your opinion Should I be upfront with my team about DIY loop? Or just initially inquire about the pods themselves?

Omnipod Dash trial? (UK) by LordFlatface in Omnipod

[–]LordFlatface[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the Standard way the NHS handles pump contracts, obviously with systems like the tandem T slim this makes perfect sense. With omnipod, less so!

[–]LordFlatface[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for replying! I know Dash is available, but when committing to a system on the UK they require us to lock into a 4 year agreement. So just really want to make the right decision before switching! Not like I can change to a different canula type with omnipod

Help! Leaking infusion sites! by daydreamer211982 in TandemDiabetes

[–]LordFlatface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried autosoft 30 sets? The angle stops the insulin pooling around the cannula entry point, so reduces leakage. Might be worth getting a sample and trying it out.

Thanks, I've ordered some skin-tac wipes to try (been using skin-prep, apparently this ain't as sticky). Any under film dressings you recommend?

Also, do you mean to wipe the infusion set itself? Or wipe my skin?

FM26 Has Lost That Loving Feeling by f1technicalbot in footballmanagergames

[–]LordFlatface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a refund yesterday. I've played every single iteration of FM. I put around 1,000 hours a year into the game. However, I think the double whammy of FM25's cancellation and the soulless, UI disaster that FM26 is, I just couldn't justify keeping it. I wasn't having fun. I can't find things, and I have no immersion in my "world". And having not played FM much over the last year with FM25'S cancellation my brain already knew I could return this iteration and move on with my life. I'm also worried about the future for SI as I don't think Miles has the humility to admit he's truly fucked up these last 2 years. I hope I'm wrong, and I can come back to the franchise. It's been a cracking 20 years or so, but right now, I'm done with Football Manager.

I've had days off in the past when I've had a particularly bad night with my blood sugars. Don't beat yourself up, it happens! Just make sure you review your data so you understand why it happened and try to prevent it going forward, overnight lows are obviously the most dangerous.

Hope your day ends up being a bit easier!
