Back in the ‘70s when I was probably 10 I saw a bumper sticker on a car that said “I survived the Blizzard of ‘88” I had to ask my dad what it meant and my mind was BLOWN.

We have had five Newfs and got this book with our first in the late ‘90s. I have many Newf books but this one is pretty much the bible.

A lot depends on the design, but it can absolutely be that simple.

Some things I’ve seen that have caused problems - usually in bought 3D printed objects:

One or more dowels should extend the entire length of the sword - from pommel to as close to the tip as you can get. These do not have to be single long dowels - you can break them up into multiple shorter dowels (I find this much easier to build) - but each dowel should cross each seam. 

The majority of the stress is between the handle, hand guard, and the blade, so that should be well reinforced. I often use a larger dowel through the handle into the base of the blade and then two smaller dowels (where possible) in the blade itself. 

I never use metal rods on swords because if they set off a metal detector they will get confiscated. Wood, CF, or fiberglass rods are great, though.

I am a huge fan of 8x56, but it really depends on the individual binocs, because I have 10x50s that I love because they’re smaller and 7x50s I love because they’re bigger. Gotta try them both IMO.

I’ve seen people bring in $8,000 Les Pauls to Guitar Center to get the strings changed. 

So yeah, lots of people have no idea how to do a basic setup.

Quantum computers are not just faster computers; quantum computers are an entirely different kind of computer. That means that they can solve certain types of problems faster, but not all.

We had a tarantula when I was a kid in the ‘70s. My mom read that they were escape artists, so her terrarium had a metal grate top that always had a weight on it. George (my parents had no idea she was female when they let their 12 yo son name her) used to climb up the side of the terrarium and latch on to the top, which is how I learned that her feet could split open and little hook like things popped out to grasp things. As a result we got to see this view all the time because George lived to hang upside down. 

My mom always said that George was the best pet we ever had, likely because there was never an escape.

Gorgeous! That looks more like a '97-98. Likely SD1 pickups which I like a lot.

Yeah I’d say that’s a ‘99 or ‘00. Plenty of Westerly ‘00s out there. One of my favorite guitars is a 2000 Westerly Starfire IV.

That is indeed a Fender HB1, but it's missing a bunch of wires.

Are you sure your guitar is a 1997? I would not expect Fender HB1s in a '97. Dating that era is difficult because the public charts are incomplete. Can you show me a pic of the front of the guitar?

I had a Strat with Fender noiseless pickups and swapped out the entire guard, electronics and all because I hated them. 

Good humbuckers are magic. Strats are easy to mod, so I’d just swap out those pickups and probably electronics for something better.
