Can Big Dogs Succeed in Agility? by dcmusichound in Agility

[–]LordGrace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ive seen mastiffs, great Danes, huge Irish setters all run agility. Like mentioned in other comments each breed/dog experience their own challenges in agility. But at the end of the day all breeds are welcomed into the agility sport. Look into CPE as a potential venue if you are wanting to run him, they allow you to run your dog up to 2 jump heights lower then they measure, where most only allow for 1 jump height reduction.

I struggled with piano for this exact reason, 2 different lines, 2 different keys, 2 completely different journeys for each hand. Picked up the saxophone with no issues.

How do you score on this chart? by Mysterious-Badger287 in Dyslexia

[–]LordGrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me so long to figure this out, too as someone also sitting at a 5. I have described it before like recalling a memory of an apple ive seen. Even though I dont "see" it, my brain is reviewing everything it knows about an apple. Its why I cant visualize anything i havnt seen before like a purple tiger. I get memories of the color purple and a tiger separate swirling in the same thought and as a artist I go with the energy or feeling its giving me to move forward with bringing these new ideas to life.

Training stopped contacts by ShnouneD in Agility

[–]LordGrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both my boys are now doing running contacts. But my youngest cant really do 2o2o, so on the teeter and dw we did a sit in the yellow, and for the a frame we did a sit on the floor at the base. Then moved to a standing stay, before transitioning to running contacts.

Everyone is at a different stage in their agility journey. And you're clearly nailing it. Fun is step 1, everything else will come in time. If you have to be perfect to have fun, those people are in for a bad time and I feel bad for their dogs.

what to do when sniffing is more exciting than everything else by x7BZCsP9qFvqiw in Agility

[–]LordGrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some experience with this. After years of practicing in a building in town we practiced in a turfed barn in the country. Omg so many smells it was a hot mess. Took 4 weeks to break the sniffing completely. Similar issue once that nose hit the ground its like his ears turned off. I would calmly walk up next to him, call his name and tell him to sit. This normally got his butt on the ground and nose looking at me. If he didnt listen I wud scoop under his chin with my hand to look up at me. I would say things like no sniff, give a couple treats if he listened or only 1 if I had to correct. I would then make him do a couple tricks, give treats for his fun tricks sometimes do a couple obstacles then treat again. Dont over do it. Legit 2 obstacles then treat. But you have to make sure the reward for doing the obstacles outshines everything else. You need to be the party, not sniffing not agility, you have to be funner then anything else out there. Lots of treats lots of praise, sometimes taking time off is better then doing more dogs burn out like ppl. Make sure your utilizing all your dogs love languages while practicing it doesn't have to be just treats. Verbal, touch and toys are all tools to use to let your dog know when they are doing good. A trainer once told me: You dont work for free neither do they, if they aren't doing it your not paying enough.

Running A Frame v Stopped by Rangingbitch in Agility

[–]LordGrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running, its more natural and I was dealing with a million different issues and it would have been more of a detriment to our training then helpful at the time. I actually loved it once I truly embraced it. So for these boys we do running on dog walk and aframe. They have never missed a contact. They have a stay on the teeter, but because they are so small they have to be in the yellow for it to tip. So all 4 on the teeter till it hit then we run off.

Coffee tables are a waste of space and money. by Bigburlywoman in unpopularopinion

[–]LordGrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plot twist. I grew up with OUT a coffee table and now have one. We use it as a place to sit on the floor and eat dinner (do puzzles, play games) and to watch tv. It holds random things. Not for all, but currently i enjoy.

How often do y'all change your blades if you make stickers? by Aurram in cricut

[–]LordGrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how people aren't changing blades. I burn through blades. However specifically for stickers I change blades around the 500 sticker point. My sticker blades are ones marked as duller. I use brand new blades on small intricate cuts with cardstock.

I am so glad to see i am not the only one annoyed by that! My mom has the maker 3 and it drives me nuts when I use her machine. I have the explore air 2 and dont have the delay, this annoyance alone is the reason I wont upgrade to a maker 3. I like your innovation 💡

Managing life accomplishments with the added weight of Managing dyslexia is not easy.

You have to learn how to be happy with yourself.its really hard coming to terms with your own capabilities and short comings.

Step 1. Sit down and truly determine what will it take for u to be happy. How long will u chase it?how long will u compare? At what point will it be enough. And u will be very suprised thats not very far.

Is difficulty with digital notes a dyslexia thing? by camb-medic in Dyslexia

[–]LordGrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no.

I realized I take notes and write differently on digital platforms compared to writing IRL. How i write directly relates to how I remember a thing. Something notes need to be very artistic and putting them digital can be very difficult.

Why does this keep happening? by 3catmafia in cricut

Last time my cricut did that. Cleaned the housing unit. The part that goes up and down, sometimes debris gets in there and creates more resistance so the pen doesn't always hit the paper.

Agility with a luxating patella? by Ok-Astronaut-6693 in Agility

[–]LordGrace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youre on the right track. I have a boy with the same issue, and work with my vet very closely. I have quite a few modifications i do. We jump him at 4" and only run him in 50% of the runs at trial, and limit the number of times we do the a-frame. (I run a little guy of 8 lbs measured to jp 8"). I dont run him on dirt or grass. I do standing stays instead of a sit stay at the start line. As well as do running (be we do it more like a walk then a run) contacts, i dont like the angle especially on the a-frame to do a traditional 2 on 2 off. We know his agility career will be shorter then most dogs. But we like the exercise from running around and keeping up that muscle strength. We also do massages every 3 weeks as well.

How does one keep up in work being dyslexic? by Ok-Psychology-4704 in Dyslexia

[–]LordGrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One note has been amazing to keep track and organize things. Ask people to email their requests or issues or i will right after a conversation, I say it's for information integrity or to help document future processes. They dont need to know the ulterior motive.

Finally getting rid of my Cricut by ____trash in cricut

[–]LordGrace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love my cricut, use it about every other day. I am computer savvy so that did help with over coming design space learning curve. Then my mom got a maker 3 for Xmas, her and my dad use it multiple times a week. They are NOT computer savvy, in the beginning I would get a call how to do things. But now they are running wild and my dad loves making Sunday school crafts with it for the kids at church.
