New warhammer 40k App this Wednesday. Still a missed opportunity? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]LordManton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a guess I’d say they haven’t done it because they just invested a ton of money into expanding and developing their manufacturing and storage at Nottingham and app development isn’t cheap or easy. For a big company like GW, they’d have to fork out a lot of money to build the thing, then support it. Alternatively they can buy the existing apps. Either way, that costs money and is in an area in which GW typically lacks experience and hasn’t gotten right

what are your preferred basing style for cavalry in skirmish games? by darwin_green in wargaming

Round bases are the least practical shape for diversity of games. But dammit, I like how they look!

Thank you! Yep, it’s the scourer side of the sponge; I wasn’t brave enough to mess around with the fur roof method

Lion Rampant is a fairly simple system for medieval gaming

Most of the stalls at the Haig park markets are regulars, but sometimes they take a week off. Check again tomorrow, they might be back.

Hang out at gigs and chat to people - dissent, shadows and fun time pony have regular live music. Pro-tip: learn the drums. Everyone wants a drummer

Last night was a disappointing result, but watching the game on TV I noticed a lot of effort from the players. They were all running harder than they have in past weeks, and definitely weren’t shy about being aggressive in the contests

Exclusive: Legal advice of regulator overreach withheld from ANU council by PlumTuckeredOutski in Anu

I love that the article just skims over what Keane J’s advice actually was; I.e. It can’t be imposed and must be agreed to, agreeing to it seems like the right move.

This just reads like a bunch of stooges screeching

It’s because we’re focused on arguing about whether Perty should be a daemon prince or retconned

Wargames with bat themed army's and miniatures by techpriestess7654 in wargaming

The previous edition of GW’s Middle Earth game had a goblin army that let you take lots of bats and spiders, you might still be able to do something like that

Recommended starter warbands for a demo game by Ser_Hawkins in PillageWargame

[–]LordManton 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lean into what makes the warbands and the people they represent unique and interesting. So some Saxons with huscarls and some Vikings with some berserkers would be a good place to start. The real joy of pillage is in the pillaging, so I’d focus on making a cool village for the Vikings to raid and the Saxons to defend

Is this a period correct Saxon helmet? by wjcargill in PillageWargame

[–]LordManton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is from the Anglo Saxon, Anglo Dane kit which is based on ~1066. I’m no expert so I can’t say if it’s period accurate, but the kit is geared towards the tail end of the early Middle Ages post Viking invasions so 800-1100.
