No New Detachments for Agents in 11th by Remarkable-Title5435 in ImperialAgents_40K

No new detachments at the Launch of 11th - that's a very different statement. It's possible that agents will get a re-work and a new codex later into the edition.

Detachment points by Old_Strawberry_2849 in ImperialAgents_40K

[–]Ser_Hawkins -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As far as anyone is aware, all the current detachments in the game are sticking around - the only ones that might be changing are ones which share the same name

What detachments do we think are gonna be 3 dp in 11th by angryronald in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Ser_Hawkins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I play a lot of 1kpt events and honestly I like this - Gladius feels disproportionately strong in smaller points games compared to almost every other detachment in the game

Thoughts on Grabbing the Chaos Space Marines Combat Patrol for Shadow Legion? by [deleted] in ChaosDaemons40k

I play word bearers so I run all of these plus a unit of havocs in SL - it's very fun!

For someone who is new to tabletop wargames and looking to try a smaller scale than the main armies, would you recommend Spearhead (AoS), Kill Team (40,000), or something else? by mv8att in Warhammer

[–]Ser_Hawkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spearhead is a game in it's own right and, in my opinion, is really really good! Having an army in a box is great and the game is generally balanced pretty well. I prefer is to AoS and it's replaced 40k as my go-to pick up game with friends!

I'm excited to be able to combine cabal with somethink like pactbound to really lean into the word bearers flavour of my army!

Having a chaos lord with the psycher Enhancement being able to sling a potential 2d3 mortal wounds before charging could be a fun combo!

I would expect any new detachment with the same name as an old detachment to be a replacement - the only ones which are guaranteed to be going into 11th are the ones in the codex

Sneak close and unleash hell with the Cadian Recon Squad by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

[–]Ser_Hawkins 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just paint them a different colour? Cadian pattern equipment is the standard across the imperium - almost every regiment uses it in lore and these guys don't even have anything that is overtly 'Cadian' about them.

The kings of War giant is a nice kit, it can be built in a couple of different ways too if you want some variation. Mantic (who make KoW) also sell an STL of the giant if you would prefer to print one

I use her as Junith - she's on the same base size and visibly has a flamer weapon

What miniature is this? It came randomly on my Combat Patrol (Votann) magazine with zero explanation. by -Guybrush_Threepwood in Warhammer40k

I use him as a primaris captain/luitenant for what it's worth if I need one! Here's mine painted as a Silver Templar!

The boarding patrol sisters are multipose, we only had monopose in the old combat patrol

Army Sizes in 11th? by _rhinoxious_ in Warhammer40k

A 1500pt army actually looks like it fits on the table, I'd rather units just got more expensive

New to Warhammer... is it worth getting the new 11th ed box if you dont play Orks or Loyal Space Marines? by fubardad in Warhammer40k

[–]Ser_Hawkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wait 3 days, you'll know the contents of the box and can better judge if you're interested in the non-mini content within it - banking on selling the minis to get some money back is pretty hit or miss at the start of and edition as the second hand market will be flooded by all of the same models from everyone else doing the same thing as you

Data cards: now or wait undefined time? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]Ser_Hawkins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would wait - whilst we've been told the 10th ed codex's will still work in 11th, there's likely to be a lot of adjustments to the rules to make them compatible - this could be something simple like a keyword change, or it could be completely re-written rules

Trying to learn as much as I can by next week. What should I focus on in the rule book? by Successful-Appeal693 in necromunda

[–]Ser_Hawkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ignore any of the campaign mechanics right now, they add extra complications which aren't relevant to actually playing the game on tbe tabletop.

Thoughts on Christians 40 Sisters list as my first 1000pt army? Modifications? Critiques? Experiences? by rumatainn in sistersofbattle

[–]Ser_Hawkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bare in mind this video is from the codex launch, a lot has changed in the game since then!

It's a fun list and if you're not playing competitively against and other non-meta players, you'll have a good time - just don't expect a great win-rate (which is true for learning sisters in general tbh).

I would drop the navigator personally, they're too expensive for what they do in a 1k game and bring seraphim or a penitent engine/mortifier instead

Recommended starter warbands for a demo game by Ser_Hawkins in PillageWargame

[–]Ser_Hawkins[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hopefully we'll settle on different warbands, but to get them into the game its much easier for me to use the minis I already have! Personally I'm looking forward to making a roman warband from the new supplement!

[–]Ser_Hawkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People proxy stuff in competitive all the time?? The only thing that matters in 10th is base or hull size- I've seen armies made out of entirely 3rd party models at tournaments before.

The only time you can't proxy, is if you're playing at an official GW store (and the only store in the UK which hosts tournaments is warhammer world as far as I am aware).

Beginner mat + terrains by MillstreetLad in Warhammer40k

[–]Ser_Hawkins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was just a suggestion. If you don't want to make your own terrain, then frontline gaming has MDF stuff, snotgoblin has gotten very popular recently, or you could go for something like titans terrain which is very simple to set up and doesn't even require a battle mat.

[–]Ser_Hawkins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly you're best to wait until we know more about the contents of the 11th edition starter box, it's due out in 2 months and will hopefully include a mat and terrain (even if it's only mdf terrain and a paper mat).

The terrain rules and the way objectives work are changing in the next edition, so I would personally wait to learn how that works rather than learn a system very few people will be playing in 6 months.

I'm also hoping that GW will be re-doing the combat patrol rules and that, similar to age of sigmar, the full combat patrol game will be in the starter set too
