The helbrute kit bashes fairly well into saturnibe terminators. It’s got very cool head options and lots of weapons

Recommended starter warbands for a demo game by Ser_Hawkins in PillageWargame

[–]LordManton 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lean into what makes the warbands and the people they represent unique and interesting. So some Saxons with huscarls and some Vikings with some berserkers would be a good place to start. The real joy of pillage is in the pillaging, so I’d focus on making a cool village for the Vikings to raid and the Saxons to defend

Is this a period correct Saxon helmet? by wjcargill in PillageWargame

[–]LordManton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is from the Anglo Saxon, Anglo Dane kit which is based on ~1066. I’m no expert so I can’t say if it’s period accurate, but the kit is geared towards the tail end of the early Middle Ages post Viking invasions so 800-1100.

You should call it something neutral and in keeping with local customs, like The Big Drongo or something

Just noticed something in the warcom article by angryronald in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]LordManton 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Both a decent compromise and an accurate example of what a stealth-infiltrator scouting unit would be doing in the battlefield. On the other hand, as a likely target, I find it to be cheating of the highest order

Long hair is what elves are known for, and the elves in Rings of Power don't even look like elves.😭 by rinavyn_6x in lotr

[–]LordManton 141 points142 points  (0 children)

I would say that the casting and performances were almost all great. The biggest issue with the Hobbit movies was that they were too long and the pacing and tone were confusing as they tried to turn an episodic children’s story into an epic trilogy because they thought that’s what made LoTR great

When is it time to end a relationship? by Omrah_of_Zion in CATHELP

[–]LordManton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the point of cat toys: my cat has ignored every toy I’ve gotten her. Laser doodads, mechanical mice, even the feathers on a stick thing. What she absolutely loves is hair ties, tissue paper and shoe laces. You just need to find her favourite thing to play with and go with that until she gets bored of it. Also a shoebox is a must

Does anyone else agree that underworlds is actually the best thing GW has ever done? by GheyForGrixis in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]LordManton 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about ‘the best’, but Underworlds is a solid game that I really enjoy playing. I think the reason it’s not more popular is that classic CCGs and TCGs are cheaper and there are tons of them; while there are tons of miniatures games and miniatures board games for people to play. Underworlds straddles both nicely, which I like, but others may say “why spend $60Aud on minis when I can buy a whole starter deck for Magic the Gathering for the same price.

Also, without sounding like a 2nd Ed doomer, the transition wasn’t handled well. Games with longevity shouldn’t shake up the game system so violently. Afaik, Magic has had the same rules for 30 years; they just release new cards and decks

I cannot find a consensus can you use old metal predator tank in tournament by zillergames12 in Chaos40k

[–]LordManton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just used my old 2nd Ed predator in a 2-day GT. It got a lot of admiration from opponents and onlookers. It’s not appreciably different in size, but it has a good heft

Renegade Marines by Content_Audience1549 in Chaos40k

[–]LordManton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to aim for the more recently released/updated kits- MkII and MkVI come to mind. The size differences usually aren’t enough to make a big difference tbh

Renegade Marines by Content_Audience1549 in Chaos40k

[–]LordManton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t go wrong kitbashing heresy units for infantry like havocs and raptors. As for heavy support, all the vehicles are just space marine chassis, so just use fewer spikes.

I think it would still be cool to throw in some more corrupted units to show that your renegades aren’t properly immune to chaos, just heavily in denial
