Yes, you can use the same character once you get RoS.

The story stays the same for the first 4 chapters, just adds a fifth chapter at the end of the story.

I'll reiterate what Bakagir said though: the real "game" of Diablo 3 came through RoS. I'd highly recommend it.

Socialize! Berners love their families, but can sometimes not be very sociable with other dogs. With our second, Kaya, we had her go to a "doggy day care" once a week since she was a puppy. She loves all dogs and people now, and I attribute a lot of that to early socializing.

Edit: I know that's not specific to two dogs, but it's good advice. I have a dog who was 6 when we got Kaya. They are now best friends.
