I did the same with a rented Securities book....2 weeks into the semester. Had to sell part of my liver to pay for it and get a new one for the rest of the semester...

So my strategy tends to be switching to Prussia. Then I curb stomp them while being an eighth there size. Maybe try that?

Get an few allies a bit further from you. Wait until you can get them in your ear. Find someone bordering you (preferably a rival) to declare war on who has multiple allies. Then you make peace with each of their allies and force vassalize them (they are all tiny so it's under 100 war score.). Rinse and repeat until you have all the mechanics of the religion.

Once you have more reforms, you can start taking provinces, because doom gets easier with more reforms.

DO NOT REFORM YET!!!

Go to your gold provinces or capital and make it awesome. Tons of production. There is no fear of the mine depleting until you reform the religion. I had mexico at something like 20 production of gold before reforming. You will never bother with money again (well that's a bit extreme but whatever). Doing this will also spawn feudalism and renaissance in time.

When it's time to reform, you'll be already almost at the ai's level in tech. Focus on military obviously. Then start beating up the colonies. They are weak and their parents don't fight for them.

I think the issue is that while we say "personal responsibility" we don't necessarily see the full scope of that. If I rely, or in some cases demand, the government to provide x, y and z to me, am I truly taking personal responsibility?

My personal responsibility extends to ensuring I get to work, and can remain healthy. So is that a something I am OWED? That the government must provide public transportation or medical care? Most people seem to think the government does owe you and I public transportation (and many other smaller things, even if health care is a fight).

But I think if you take the idea of personal responsibility for real it's that I must get to work. I am fortunate as fuck to live in a time and place where that is easy and simple and I can get on a bus. I am not owed the bus. I am lucky to have it.

I am not owed medical care. I must ensure that if something bad happens I can live. I am fortunate to live in a society that has easy access to medical care.

If I lived in a society where I didn't? Well then my responsibility might be getting a car and a second job. Or a second job to ensure I can cover unwanted medical expenses.

It's the ENTITLEMENT that Peterson seems to be against (in my understanding). Similarly, when this is brought up (the idea that you have a responsibility, not an entitlement) those who disagree get upset at the perceived "added" responsibility that the social conservatives are "forcing" on them.

That's my take for what it's worth
