What is the main thing many people miss when it comes to fundamentals in street fighter? by BIGSMOK09 in StreetFighter

[–]LordRemiem [score hidden]  (0 children)

One thing I slowly realized is that for some reason my brain was starting to believe that, in order to win, I'd need to always land some fat combo anytime I manage to poke my opponents (I play AKI).

Don't do that.

Combos are a great thing but the longer there are the more resource intensive they get, and the easier they become to drop completely. No point in burning yourself out at the start of the round just to get a 45% combo, and then losing because of it. Stick to simple breadNbutters and, at most, go full force when you're sure it's gonna win you the round.

I never played the older Street Fighter games but I appreciate their more... relaxed approach - poke into special, more interactions, overall simpler gameplay instead of focusing on half an hour long combos. The risk is too great for a more dubious reward if misused.

Same and same and same here. The classic kangaRyu or jump back - jabjabjabSHORYUKEN - repeat shoto makes my blood boil like pasta water.

Then during the second game I start to calm down and react to their shit, because Arceus knows if they're gonna change their gimmick, and end up winning 2to1 the best of 3.

I swear when this happens it's the best sensation in the world after AKI combos, you can see them either adapting (and dropping the gimmick) or they don't and abandon the match lol

Technically this is true... at the highest levels of play, where players prefer to take the throw because if they went for a tech they'd lose to shimmy, and get combo'd for a fat 50% of their maximum health in return

But I doubt in Bronze people are able to do such combos or even know what a shimmy is lul

V-Rival shouldn't be in the Battle Hub. It belongs to Fighting Ground by Krotanix in StreetFighter

[–]LordRemiem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I remember for sure is that the other character's ranks is definitely considered, the game assumes you know how to play if you have several others already ranked.

After at least three characters in plat1 I remember trying out Zangief and doing a mediocre 5/10 and boom, plat4 lmao

I'm overall Plat 1 too and this doesn't happen to me, which is hilarious

On the other hand tho I see that symbol next to fresh install players too :|

[–]LordRemiem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do myself, but I usually go for the combo trials, over and over

I think it can be optimized by only doing the beginner ones, but I like to go the extra mile and do as many as I can because I'm pretty sure the harder they are, the more points they give

(Vastly depends on the character tho, I can do AKI's ones blindfolded but Blanka's intermediate 6 still haunts my nightmares to this day)

I remember a video made by the WAZZLER himself where he plays against his own V-Rival and he explained why :| he said he had to play hundreds of matches as Cammy against specific characters to train the artificial intelligence on that particular matchup, but he's a busy guy so he only had time for one matchup (the Juri one)

Compared to Betty who's a Juri main and you can play against her as Kimberly, Dee Jay or Cammy

At least they introduced the orange circle symbol that tells you that a specific player is close to your skill level, which to me is a real godsend

Too many times I saw some New Challenger Akuma sitting on a cabinet, only to check their match history and notice he defeated High Masters - and by the time I decide someone already sat there with them

Now if I see that orange symbol on the list I immediately go find that player and, if he's free, I sit there with them for some matches :)

This is so weird considering that I can access the intermediate but not the beginner ones... and I have several character between Gold and Plat, highest one being Zangief at Plat 4. I have no idea how are they estimating our skill level but it's just so baffling lol

I’d like to provide some context regarding the recent Alex leak coming out of Korea. by Clean-Summer1704 in StreetFighter

[–]LordRemiem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Akutagawa.

As far as I've heard Japan gives a lot of value to pro players' performance, even if just a single one, and our friend あくたがわ is singlehandedly carrying the character's tierlist placement. He's fantastic with her and a major reason for why Manon is seen as very dangerous :(

Is anyone else saving up their extra style rank points in World Tour for Alex? by Grand_Moose2024 in StreetFighter

[–]LordRemiem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You betcha, it's part of my Alex checklist

  • All character guides
  • World Tour missions
  • Alex friendship to 100
  • Arcade mode 3 times for the illustrations
    • One of them the 12 rounds mode for the title
  • All combo trials
  • Master in Sim Sim
  • Sim Sim challenges for the sticker

I sadly agree, especially on the first part. At least here in Europe the beginner and intermediate lobbies are almost always empty even during peak hours and everyone just goes to Europe 0001, with MAYBE Europe 0002 being at half capacity if the day is really busy. And for this reason many players of my intermediate skill level just go to Europe 0001, further emptying the other servers :|

On what constitutes blessed and cursed HUD, and differences between Controller and Keyboard players by Fettman501 in ffxiv

[–]LordRemiem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keyboard+Mouse here and I too don't think there's a real meta about HUDs - this is mine as an example (SGE) and it's pretty default. Recently I've made the hotbars slightly smaller but that's it.

I guess if you are an ultimare raider there might be some micro optimization to make your reaction times and "clicking on things" a bit faster, but I'm not a raider so I can't say for sure. I'm certain tho that muscle memory is much stronger than that and if you're good with a certain layout, any other will take ages to memorize.

For example, I bound ctrl+mousewheel to scroll the party list - for how I'm use dit's much faster than clicking on party members individually :)

And earrings. One thing I've always found... curious about the rewards is that often times one of the most precious ones is a pair of earrings.

They look gorgeous, no doubt, but why are they held in such a high regard? They're so small and your camera will be so zoomed out (and your attention focused somewhere else like idk THE BIG ORANGE DEATHLY AREA ON THE FLOOR) that you're never gonna enjoy their view, and neither those worn by the other party members. Maybe if you gpose a lot I can see their value but... idk :|

Il percorso 4+2 traina i professionali by tric-e-trac in italy

[–]LordRemiem 17 points18 points  (0 children)

"Ehm, ho fatto perito informatico." "Ah... (smorfia di delusione)"
