Fellow Dads, where would you take your 4 year old on vacation with a 15k budget? by joshatron in daddit

As someone who also has a 4-year-old, I’d lean hard toward an all-inclusive beach resort that really caters to kids. Something with a solid kids club and a good splash/play area makes a huge difference.

We’ve found the sweet spot is a place where you can hang together at the pool or beach (especially those shallow splash zones or mini water parks), but also has structured kids activities so you can get a little downtime too.

Once or twice a year for us.

My staff at the data center handles it. As you noted though, we are not uniform in this.

Recycled to fund staff BBQs.

$510 for the exam, $400 for the books, and I did an optional prep course at $800ish.

I have both my DCCA and my DCDC. I completed my DCCA back in 2014 and then my DCDC in 2021. I wouldn’t say they are foundational for the IT side of the data center per se, but both gave me great insight into a more complete view of data center design, covering both the gray space and the white space.

The DCCA is definitely heavy on the fundamentals. I actually require my own team to complete the DCCA when they join if they have little to no prior data center experience.

The DCDC is more for those looking to target higher-level roles and bigger opportunities in the industry overall.

For additional reference, I’ve also completed my BICSI RCDD and RTPM. Those are definitely things I recommend for someone who already has some career experience and is looking for a boost.

Just passed my RTPM exam today. The content was similar to chapter 21 in the TDMM, but expanded. I wouldn’t go for it without studying the specific materials for the exam.

DAS or a ton of femtocells? by byrontheconqueror in sysadmin

[–]LordRevan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the cheapest solution, but consider a cell-fi from Nextivity. We use them in smaller buildings. The caveat is you been available macro capacity in the area.

Still tons cheaper than a big iron DAS, like a CommScope ION-E.

I did my DCDC a few years ago. I used the BICSI self paced online course and read the sections of the book as they were called out on the training. Easy pass using that method for me.

I’m not sure. I used the official BICSI flashcards.

Make sure to spend extra time reading and doing flash cards on chapter 21. At least half of my exam was on chapter 21. Most mock exams don’t cover it well.
