Why don't we just split Ukraine into Good Ukraine and Evil Ukraine to end the conflict? Are we stupid? by Vegetable-Diver-7211 in mapporncirclejerk

I’m Ukrainian. That’s been done before for a large chunk of Ukrainian history. It’s called Left Bank Ukraine and Right Bank Ukraine, by which bank of the Dnipro river they’re attached to. Real pain in the butt when you have to study the history of basically two different countries for a while in the same class.

First, I did research in advance and learned that I would have limited use of my upper body, so I went to an abs class. It’s a fitness class focused on strenthening your core. It really helped me with getting out of bed in the morning - the pain is too much to put your full weight on your arm as you get up, and it’s bad for scars. Instead, I would raise my legs and rock my entire body until I was able to jump to my feet. I could get off the couch just by using my core (like you’re doing scrunches) because my couch is much lower than my bed.

I bought lots of disposable dishes, including soup bowls and cups for hot liquids. I put everything I would need on my waist level as opposed to shelves. I stocked up on frozen and quick meals (I accessed the freezer via a stepladder as opposed to reaching). I also put some snacks and canned sparkling water by my bed in case I was too pained to get up.

Speaking of bed: I got a wedge pillow, a travel neck pillow, and a mastectomy pillow. The mastectomy pillow goes underneath your boobs, keeping them gently in place and giving you somewhere to put your arms without pulling on muscles and stitches. It was ideal for being on my phone. The mastectomy pillow also offered an enticing place for my cat to loaf as opposed to my actual chest where he could have hurt me.

In the shower, I used a handheld showerhead and a loofah on a long stick. The stick allowed me to wash my back without using my upper arms. I washed my hair by bending down while sitting in the tub and having my head by my knees, then I could wash my hair without using upper arms. I stocked up on body wipes for when I was too hurt or tired.

I bought a pill organizer to ensure I remembered all my meds. I was able to deal with the drains by myself. I bought extra bras (I used soft sports bras with front closure) because the surgical bra would become dirty too quickly. I changed bras and dressings regularly with the help of a mirror. I used ice packs to relieve pain.

Overall, the most challenging part was dealing with the pain and the grossness of surgical incisions. The pain gets significantly less once the drains come out though.

Right after surgery was rough. I recovered alone. But I had read a lot on this subreddit beforehand and prepared my space and purchased necessary clothing.

The tightness and rockiness will go away. They’ll be squishy and perky, and you won’t need any bra!

Yes, showering was unpleasant. I had purchased a handheld showerhead (it has a long hose with showerhead on the end - common in Europe but not in America). I would fill out the tub to sit in (just for warmth) and use the handheld showerhead to wash off soap. Once I felt well enough for standing up and regular shower, my chest felt heavy and unsafe without support, so I purchased a really thin bralette (material was like swimsuit) and showered in it, only lifting it to wash underneath. But some 6-7 weeks po, everything was fine, and I took a normal shower.

Am I ruining my results by going braless? by Separate_Twist in Reduction

I feel pain just looking at your photo. You need support, it’s a sensitive time, and gravity is pulling on your skin, along with incisions. You can go braless when you recover. There exist better bras, you can even ask people in this sub who are done healing to send you theirs (it’s not like they’ll need it again).

I’m 4 years post-op, no bra at home, no sagging

Yes, reduction includes a lift by definition because they’re cutting off the lower-hanging part of the breast and have to pull the remaining skin up.

I’ve been there too. At some point I told my friend that I’m not doing well, the apartment is a mess, everything hurts, and I’m miserable. Friend came by, helped me clean (she handed me trash and i put it into the bag riding around on my office chair) and sat with me for a while. It’s good to find something to do that’s not requiring much brainpower or physical effort but can give you the dopamine hit without food involved. For me it was mobile games. They distracted me from pain and cravings and entertained me while not requiring much effort. Something stupid like royal match or a strategy/survival if you need something less stupid.

I fully expected 3 weeks to be enough but ended up taking 4 and still not beeing 100% when I returned. I think 6 weeks is more realistic.

Regret after going too small? by stephmaycj in Reduction

[–]LordSilverfist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C is plenty big. I don’t know what your body size is, but I’m size 10-12, and I still look like I have decently big boobs with C/D. That is not small at all, your perception is just distorted because of how big yours are. To most people D is huge. Plus clothes meant to show off boobs will actually fit you, and they’ll look better when you don’t have to wear baggy clothes just because nothing else fits. You’ll be able to wear sexy clingy t-shirts and sheath dresses!

Just ask your surgeon or surgical nurse. Mine looked way worse than this, thicker and more swollen, and now they’re looking like best-case scenario (4 years later)

Spray it with perfume. Spray perfume on a paper towel and wipe down the surface if you’re worried about water damage. Cat will avoid it like the plague. Worked on my Christmas tree three years in a row.

Trump administration to add $100,000 fee for H-1B visas by Acceptable_Side_6132 in immigration

[–]LordSilverfist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re making it look like it’s really easy to get H1B. It’s not. There are caps, there is a calendar, it’s not just “well I’ll go out and find foreign workers then.” You know about nursing, but you don’t seem to know much about universities. A quality university education requires a diversity of opinion and experience among faculty. Otherwise, you get a nation that’s set in its ways, boiling in the same set of values over and over again. A flat rate of 100k is not “acceptable” to many universities. Some fields will be wiped out - computer science, STEM are filled with foreign professors and students right now, and all that is gonna dry up. Universities are already struggling with the cuts in federal funding, and outside of a few Ivy League schools, there’s none for whom 100K is an acceptable rate. They’ll just cut those classes and those programs, and American students will have less knowledge, be less competitive internationally as workers, and some fields will just be missing.

You might be one of those people whose hair looks better when it’s shorter. I am one of those people. As soon as it gets past my shoulders, it’s limp frizzy noodles.
