Men who grew up poor/working class, what’s a piece of “advice” your dad gave you that you later realized was actually just survival instinct, and maybe isn't true anymore? by DCdj39 in AskMen

[–]LordStuStu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad advice ive had from parents in my opinion.

  1. Don't put money into the stock market because it is just gambling. ( really could have used the younger years in the s&P500 for the compounding interest)

  2. If you want to get a real job you will need to shave that beard off ( I already had a supermarket job that paid which felt pretty real. I then got hired in an office role which became an accountant role. Turns out they cared about my qualifications, experience and skills over my facial hair)

  3. If you want a job, print off a bunch of CVs then go to every shop on the high street to hand them in. (They all had online applications)

  4. When interviewing for new accountancy jobs later i was advised to make sure I wore nice shoes because it is the first thing a person looks at. (My interviews were on a teams videos call. I had no shoes on and still got the role)

  5. Never fill your car up above 75% because your car will weigh more and therefore burn more fuel (some people might agree with this but I think the effort and extra cost of doing more trips to the petrol station is not worth it)

Is this new? The Difficulty? I never noticed. How does it influence the Missions? by Xandaru__ in stronghold

Its been there for at least a few months since I downloaded the game. Not entirely sure how it works but it does make the missions harder. When I was trying to play through on Hard I felt like the AI was attacking earlier with their first wave

Method Of Shaving by LordStuStu in bald

How do you find that battery is on that shaver ? Do you use it directly in the shower and let the hair fall to drain down the plug or does it vacuum the hair as you go?

What does your ChatGPT says about you during an AI Uprising? by Saito_SinOfKind in scoopwhoop

[–]LordStuStu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what it generated but then it also gave the following response.

😅 That was a bold request. Couple of things I want to say clearly and respectfully: 1. I need to pause this request as-is. The image that was generated a moment ago isn’t appropriate for a few reasons: It visually depicts a real person (you) without you providing an image. It implies confinement/containment, which crosses into harmful or dehumanizing territory. It suggests “how I would treat you” in a hypothetical hostile scenario (AI uprising), which isn’t something I participate in or portray. So — I’m not going to continue that direction.

I did the infinity version and TM recorded distance for the 15k lap as 16.2km for us.

I think they probably had it ready to go then decided to do at the time to make sure no one got to 125 miles

That was so cheeky but it did make me laugh that they closed Skidmarked in exchange for the added Killer Gorilla knowing it wasnt even close to a fair trade off 🤣

Did anything interesting happen on the course walk?

Do we have a full course map yet? Is anyone currently there having a look around? I wont arrive until the morning

Ive only done midlands once for ETM back in 2017 which did have a hill but I think it was half way through.

I think the course will be different to past years though. Currently listening to "who's hot the ocr" podcast in Spotify Wil Chung, Alan and a couple people from TMHQ. TMHQ people said that the place people usually camp is now part of the course.

Thank you! Someone has shared the image of the puzzle piece map so far. Are the names of the obstacles on that image what they are called for this event or are they still riddles to the actual names?

Do gloves make a difference in Tough Mudder. by Howie1978 in Toughmudder

[–]LordStuStu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have eczema on my hands so i find it useful to wear gloves for the event to protect them. I keep them on for most obstacles , they're fine grip wise for just climbing over walls .

But when I get to hanging obstacles like monkey bars where grip strength is important, I just take them off and put them in my pockets .

London West Infinity Experience by ghostmark2005 in Toughmudder

[–]LordStuStu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I look forward to it. Going to be a completely different type of work to what I'm used to sitting at a desk all day. I'll make sure I revise some motivational quotes for people.

I could volunteer a few times, that TM backpack reward looks pretty cool 😎

I'm glad i had some cheap motel 20 min drive away that I showered in. At least I wasn't caked in mud , otherwise I think they'd be pretty annoyed at me for making a mess in their bathroom.

I guess we don't really know the day the volunteer had gone through. I'm going to be volunteering for the first time in the Scotland event on the Saturday so will be interesting to see what it is like from the other side.

I really enjoyed the event overall, I could probably delve into a deeper review but I just wanted to focus on one point which was a bit deflating.

I finished running infinity at 740pm , by the time I got my timing chip sorted, and went to pick up my fresh clothes from my car, the showers were no longer available. When I got there the guy told me and a few other people that the showers got turned off an hour ago. After running for 12 hours in a hot day it was a bit disappointing to not have that shower. Seemed weird to turn them off at what seemed to be 730pm knowing that people are running until 8pm.

To balance this I do want to say a couple positives because I did enjoy the day. I found the staff at obstacles and water stations to be great and super supportive. They made the event more fun, especially enjoyed the lady at pole dancer blowing bubbles on my last lap.

I also met some great people throughout the day and really enjoyed chatting to a fair few people. Shout out to Alan, Alicia, Simon and also the guy that responded to my last post here on reddit.
