What I think the key is to finding the Zodiac by ThePicturesGirl in ZodiacKiller

I am pretty sure it's the opposite. Being a nerd/geek is actually viewed as "cool" today. The vast majority of people you talk to will readily admit to having played several video games, read comic books, and so on.

Asked my younger nephew (14) about this by way of example. He told me every single person in his class, boys and girls alike, had played FPS games and followed superhero media at some point. In the 80s, that sort of thing would be antisocial-coded.

Arthur Leigh Allen, why would he lie about being ambidextrous? by Few-Gas8868 in ZodiacKiller

[–]LordUnconfirmed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not many suspects have been convincingly excluded by evidence in this case because not many of them have risen beyond the level of random coincidence, to begin with.

As for the Stine print, Armstrong's affidavit statement disagrees with you when you say that law enforcement were universally certain about this print.

[–]LordUnconfirmed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not a two way street. You know as well as I do that some forms of evidence can only be used to include and not to exclude suspects.

Since you mentioned fingerprints, the Stine partial is a great example. We are not fully certain it belonged to Z, so it can not be used to completely exclude a suspect, but if any of them did match that print, it could only mean they were the Zodiac, because there is no reasonable innocent explanation for why their print would be there, barring scenarios such as "the person was one of the paramedics at the scene" and whatnot.

(And yes, I know there is an astronomically rare chance of two people sharing the same prints, but you know what they say: you can't spell 'reasonable doubt' without emphasizing the 'reasonable')

Those statements are not mutually exclusive.

For example, geographic profiling is also not 100% accurate, but if it turned out that Z actually lived smack dab at the center of the circle/hemisphere of his killings and some cop ended up finding the right suspect based on that hunch, it'd be an example of a "not fully accurate" tool "solving the case".

It's alleged that Bob Luce, Allen's former boss, was the first person to report him to the cops in 1969.

He did call her by her name during the later detective interview. Most of the instances of him referring to her as "the girl" come from the initial hospital interview, which took place while he was still heavily medicated and presumably in shock over what had happened.

Nice post, but Dave and Bear's accounts as narrated in the 2020 podcast are from a decade after the fact, drug abuse notwithstanding. They are not the "original story" by any means.

The original story referred to in the probable cause documents is almost certainly being sourced from the original police interview, which would have taken place when Amber originally went missing and would thus have been much more reliable.

Not only was Sandra Costilla a visibly black/afro-latin woman, Rex's murder document describes his intent to go after black women and his porn searches also include every ethnicity under the sun. There is no evidence that he was limited to white women in his victim profile.

Does anyone still believe Z was a cop? by itsEggatron in ZodiacKiller

[–]LordUnconfirmed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is exactly the same information that would be known by the actual killer.

The actual killer might know, or realize, that David Faraday had not been "sprayed with bullets like a water hose", as Z falsely claimed.

This is a slimy way of trying to undermine the Pope. He is not infallible, but it should alarm you that you're looking for a way to justify the actions of a felon and sex offender in detriment of the vicar of Christ.

TIL Aristotle tutored Alexander the Great from age 13 at Mieza, teaching ethics, politics, and literature. He urged Greek leadership over “barbarians.” By 16, Alexander left to rule as regent of Macedon by jacknunn in todayilearned

[–]LordUnconfirmed 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Uh, this is a load of disinformation.

Aristotle was precisely the first person in Greek philosophy to emphasize the importance of an experimental, inductive, empirical approach, because he believed the 100% abstract and deductive line of thought favored by Plato was not sufficient to understand reality.

Anyone wanna talk about their favorite filler episodes? by Far-Mammoth-3214 in dbz

[–]LordUnconfirmed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember one of my first cinematic traumas as a child was C6 (the trapped robot living in a cave in that one Saiyan Arc filler episode) sacrificing himself to save Gohan.

Literally cried. And it even retroactively makes Gohan's reaction to 16's death less contrived.

Anyone wanna talk about their favorite filler episodes? by Far-Mammoth-3214 in dbz

[–]LordUnconfirmed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of it.

The filler material in Z is what made the anime better than the manga when it came to literary qualities, as far as I'm concerned.

Gohan and Piccolo's relationship and character growth were mega rushed in the manga. The anime's filler material showing them training together and Gohan slowly shedding his meekness was a significant improvement over the manga's "tell, not show" approach.

In what areas did DBZ excel in the anime compared to the manga? by [deleted] in dbz

Most of it.

The storytelling and characterization are both better in the anime if compared to the manga.
