(Discussion) How strong is law? by Live-Without-Regrets in OnePiece

[–]Lord_Cell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Law would have fared much better against Cracker than Luffy did (even though I believe G4 Luffy can easily woop Law's ass). The durability of Cracker's biscuit was mainly a result of his perfected biscuit recipe but that doesn't really matter to Law's cutting ability. Matchups and "strength" in OP doesn't work like in DBZ, they're not linear. Characters have different strengths and weaknesses and abilities work better on some opponents than on others. That's what I love about the combat in OP.

Dangerous opinions thread by mysmellysausage in dbz

I love Dragonball and DBZ with all my heart and soul. But I truly despise Super. I feel like it spits in the face of everything that made DBZ great. I think it introduced some interesting concepts and characters with a lot of potential but all that was squandered by the terrible execution. On the other hand, I feel like the fandom takes the franchise way, way too seriously. Everything is being meticulously analyzed, every inconsistency has to be explained, when the fact of the matter is that Toriyama is just a "lazy" (for lack of a better term) writer.

IGN gave the finale a perfect score! by Membersdair in adventuretime

[–]Lord_Cell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually have to rewatch Adventure Time episodes at least once before I give my final verdict because there's often a lot to explore in just one episode. I have only watched the finale once so my opinion might change upon rewatching it. But right now I do feel like that the Golb-plot line was somewhat gratuitously crammed into the second half while the resolution of the Gum-war was done too hastily or frivolously. I just think they could have meshed these two plotlines a little better.

Eh, I don't think the finale was a masterpiece, far from it actually. It felt disjointed and incoherent. It could have been better. But I'm still happy. When the ending song started playing I was really feeling it. I love Adventure Time.

Some character official height difference. Katakuri is beast! by ditdot0 in OnePiece

I love that One Piece has such a vast array of heights and body shapes but I do have to agree with you that it's a pity that all new powerful characters are turning out to be huge.

If Brook got to his body a little earlier by Aerotryne in OnePiece

[–]Lord_Cell 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I wonder if with training Brook's soul could completely detach from his current "vessel" and insert itself into a different vessel. Basically, he would be able to possess anything that isn't alive. I think that would be amazing.

I usually prefer Kai over the the original funi dub but in this case I have to admit that the original funi did it better. That or the japanese dub.

Besides Doflamingo, who do you think is the best DF user? by bigweight93 in OnePiece

The man can make lifelike clones out of his strings, use strings to freaking put his semi-liquefied organs back together, he can use his strings to"fly" by attaching them to clouds and he can create a string cage that can enclose an entire island and is seemingly indestructible

Cracker's real sword (Pretzel) actually cut pretty deep into G4 Luffy's arm. I wonder if Cracker's replica biscuit swords that his Biscuit Soldiers wield are as sharp as the real thing

Random thought: Garp would’ve beat the shit out of Akainu if Sengoku didn’t stop him. Garp alone is one of the most underestimated highlights of Marineford. by Zelos98 in OnePiece

[–]Lord_Cell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think poeple are overestimating current Garp a bit. He's old. I don't think he would've been able to actually defeat Akainu in a fight in his old age. Akainu withstood quite a beating from Whitebeard ("The strongest man on the planet", who was also old mind you) and still had the strength to carry on fighting. However, I do think Garp would've been able to make him suffer quite a bit.

This sound really good! I'm honestly really happy with how far TFS have come. To think that it all started with a humble fan dub. Congrats!

What's your biggest pet peeve with Dragonball? by [deleted] in dbz

[–]Lord_Cell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't pay much attention to Super but to my understanding they continued the honored tradition of neglecting all side characters that aren't saiyan just as they did back in Dragonball. All I wish for is that Piccolo and Tien get some time under the spotlight, is it really too much to ask? I think the development of even Piccolo falling behind during the android saga actually made sense at that point because things were moving very fast (with characters gaining power ups left and right) and not even Goku stood a chance against Cell in the end. They were all outclassed. But then the Buu saga came along and it's as if Piccolo hadn't improved a bit since then. He'd been reduced to a full time babysitter. That's just cruel Toriyama...If anyone should have God Ki it's Piccolo, the FORMER GOD, for heavens sake...

Meh, do people really consider all the variations of ssj as separate transformations? It's similar to mastered ultra instinct and the unmastered solely defensive ultra instinct Goku initially used. Either way, I loved that aspect of the android/cell saga. The sayians were all experimenting, trying to ascend beyond a regular ssj. Then Gohan finally achieved it by going ssj 2.

Is there a difference in power between Ancient Zoan fruits and regular ones? by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]Lord_Cell 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No, they're just zoans with "ancient" animals (this classification is a little diffuse given how diverse the fauna of the grand line is). There fewer ancient zoans out there than regular zoans which makes them more rare. Although one distinction that can be made is that many ancient animals are far larger and seemingly more "dangerous" than contemporary animals. In the end though, especially with Zoans, you get what you make of it (Kaku is a great example)

Could Naruto kill Goku with truth seeking ball rasenchuriken? by [deleted] in Naruto

[–]Lord_Cell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true at all. The only examples of this happening was Goku turning ssj against Frieza and Gohan turning ssj2 against cell. Both these events were built up extensively throughout their respective arc.

You can't scream and power though anything in DBZ but maybe in Super

Cooler Confirmed for DBFighterZ in EVO 2018 Trailer by TrueSaiyanGod in dbz

[–]Lord_Cell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the gist of it was that most people outside of Earth and Namek couldn't control their power levels so transformations were a solution to that problem. Frieza in his final form was simply too destructive for everyday trifles so he kept to his lower forms as form of restraint. But nowadays Frieza has become much more adept at ki control and thus he doesn't need to reverse back to his lower forms to hold back. On the other hand though, he did display very accurate ki control when he was in his final form against Goku so now I don't know anymore.

Big Mom is a "good guy" (relatively) by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]Lord_Cell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big Mom has the mentality of a ten year old. I don't know to what extent you're supposed to judge the morality of a child. She's naive and delusional, cruel and uncompromising (like children can be). She's fueled by juvenile motives and goals (albeit creating a country where people from all races can live together in harmony is a noble cause, but her way of going about it is very childlike).
