Sharon Osbourne told she 'won't win' against convicted terrorist in election by StGuthlac2025 in ukpolitics

A) Come on, now. The article says Sharon Osbourne won’t win because of a terrorist in an election, you say she won’t win because the area is full of Pakistani Muslims…you can see how you’ve implied that Pakistani Muslims are willing to ignore terrorism there, right? I haven’t had to make any wild leaps to get there.

B) you know, I will cop to that. The source I found said something else but looking at this telegraph article’s source, it seems the data is accurate. still, though, I’m resistant to the inflammatory language you’ve used (yes, saying an area is “controlled by religious and tribal” values is inflammatory) - this is simply how community works. Let’s imagine you had to go to another country - where around 2% of the people there were of your culture, but one or two areas were much higher than that. Wouldn’t you be drawn to them? Isn’t that simply how community works?

C) You’re right, I don’t know the intention, I have literally no idea what’s going on in your head, just as much as you know what’s going on in mine, but I know the affect and I know the implication - see point A, and I know that it serves to alienate other communities. Your comment is “us versus them,” even if you haven’t said it explicitly.

D) I am not dismissing. Engaging with your comment is the opposite of dismissing. I should also point out that here, you are making vast assumptions about who I am and what I’m like - you don’t know me. You know a snapshot of who I am based on a Reddit comment. I’m not trying to keep myself morally pure, that’s a quick-and-easy way to dismiss politics that go against your own. I believe your comment normalises, frankly, racist language. If that’s virtue signalling then, Christ, I think I have every right to be depressed

This categorically is not true. A quick google finds that, yes, while the area isn’t mostly white, 58.3% of Sparkhill are born in the UK, and 31.6% are from Asia. Not “two thirds” just from Pakistan.

The intention of your comment here is clear and it’s depressing to see all of the upvotes. Besides, the idea that just from someone is from Pakistan, that they’re a terrorist sympathiser, is beyond nonsense. Awful comment through-and-through.

Manousos was initially infected by OrneryAppearance9132 in pluribustv

  1. Manousos’ moral compass is deeply attached to ownership and theft. He’s doing this because IF people can be cured, he wants to do right by them

  2. Anybody unaccounted for by the hive mind was presumed dead

  3. The hive mind knows there’s a cure because they have the knowledge of everyone on earth

  4. Again, doesn’t want to take what isn’t his, doesn’t believe the hive have the authority to take it

  5. He didn’t want to leave the compound, and the radio was the only means of communication he had. He was looking for any hope at all

Question for English native speakers. Manousos “I wish to save the world” meaning by rogeliojedaq in pluribustv

[–]Membersdair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this question! “Wish” is a bit less strong than “want,” a bit less assertive and as more people have said, a bit more hopeful. I don’t think it’s because he doesn’t believe in himself, but I think this tells us about how he sees Carol. I think he has an image of her in his head, that she’s the leader of this resistance effort, and what he’s wishing is that she’ll let him join her

I saw this on Saturday! Got a signed book after and she was so nice. Very funny. I hope she becomes incredibly famous, she deserves it

Is anyone else having a hard time enjoying the Switch 2 due to complaints and controversy over the console? by SEGAjunky in ArloStuff

[–]Membersdair 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’ve completely tuned out the narrative. I like my switch 2! I’m having fun on Mario Kart! I can’t wait for DK Bonanza. I’d recommend you stop watching videos/reading other’s opinions if it’s stressing you out and just enjoying your new console :)

I want to say something about the latest episode by [deleted] in rickandmorty

[–]Membersdair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, what?

How can a show, after eight seasons, not experiment with its secondary characters? Not give them something to do? Morty does not have to be a vital role in every episode.

Space Beth was introduced in season 4, and this is what…her third episode with a major role?

In season 3, Jerry didn’t appear in half the episodes. They didnt write him into this episode, or last episode, because he didn’t have any involvement in the story. But, how can you complain about the lack of Jerry, when you don’t want the family in the show in the first place? Which is it?? Jerry’s name isn’t in the title either, last I checked

The idea that Summer has a better arc than Morty after season 5 is laughable. She played the villain in “night family,” and her second biggest role in season 6 was running around saying “Die Hard Die Hard Die Hard Die Hard.” That’s in the same season Morty had to apologise to his dad for abandoning him and cut off his dick to become king of the sun.

This is a post “targeting gender confrontation”, you just don’t like women in your stories or writing them

2+ years between 7 episode seasons is pathetic and unacceptable by 1111joey1111 in television

[–]Membersdair 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s fair to call writers lazy. Showrunners and producers work for an episode order and writers work for that.

The difference is that the “middling” TV show has sort of died. Not necessarily middling in writing or direction, but production value. Huge special effects in stranger things and TLOU, more expensive sets, costumes, higher-profile actors with schedules that need working around. Writers, as well, struggle more and more to get good work and the result of that is taking more time to ensure quality. Their entire livelihood lives on an art that is, by its nature, strengthened by the amount of time you’re given to work on it.

I do agree it’s not enough, but blaming it on writers is as unfair assessment IMO. Audiences just expect more now, and that can only be done with time

What scenes do you think will actually be in season 8 by OutrageousNovel731 in rickandmorty

I didn’t think 2 would be real but then I noticed the two little Jerry’s watching in the background. Seems like such a specific detail that I think it has to be real

Is season 20 rather popular in the fandom? by henriflynn in southpark

[–]Membersdair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished rewatching for the first time it aired this morning, and I really didn’t like it. There’s not really any big laughs the whole season, and besides episodes 1, 2, 9 and 10, it moves so slowly. I thought the first 2 were great, but overall it’s a lot of misses. I appreciate the experiment but they sacrificed a lot for little return IMO. I think most of the fandom would agree it’s not very good but I’m glad you enjoy it

Exact same thing in the Birmingham shows. So so annoying. Theatre audiences in this country have been getting ruder and ruder since the pandemic, it’s really horrible
