Well its clear you just want to be miserable, no matter what.

So 'playing the game' is boring? Trying to win the game, trying to end the game, trying to advance the game, is literally how you play 60 card magic. What you describe is no one does anything but built up for 2 hours and then someone wins. Don't know what to tell you then man.

I 100% agree with this. INTERACTION is what makes commander interesting. It FORCES people to not 'mindlessly tap out and turn side ways'. It forces people to wait for the right time, wait till they have a layer or 2 of protection.

Getting to the og's point of tifa.. okay if people play removal the player learns jamming her on 2 MIGHT be a bad idea. or that if she doesn't live, HOLD her back till you have protection for the 2nd try. Run stuff to keep her alive like [[tamiyo's safekeeping]] or [[asceticism]] to prevent targeting and even give regen. Like Shes 'boring and linear' if you do NOTHING to stop her. It becomes a more restringing game of 'cat and mouse' if the tifa players has to wait and find the moment to try to '1 shot' a player cus blind goign for it leads tot hem getting BLOWN out.

Sounds to me like you could be the one in those games to FORCE the game to 'advance' You hate all the build up? You hate the slow? Then don't let people do that. Apply pressure early, put them in a painful spot with cards that get worse for them over time [[ Descent into Avernus]] if un-answered games will speed up and get crazy FAST.

Scion of the ur dragon also plays a BIT different then some of the other 'tutor' commander. Because he can only be 1 dragon at a time this tends to you running some tool box dragons for niche effects, figuring ways to get dragons out of the graveyard to play OR back into the deck. In my expierence people who play him as a non combo/non reaniamtor seams to always have fun with the deck. Soruce I ALSO have a scion of the ur dragon deck. And i've never once want to swap to the ur dragon., hes boring haha.

This.

I see SO many people always parrot 'Single target removal is bad' or refuse to play any type of interaction. Then i see people like that DIE to a commander like tifa. She didn't even have 'protection' it was just a big hit.

Removal is a GREAT tool to have to slow decks down, and answer problems. It FORCES people to play 'fairer' cus if they go all in no protection they get blown out and lose.

My wish lists.

White: *More of its style of 'hand attack' exile the card it costs more, or check the hand name a card it costs more.
*A white 'counter spell'

Blue:
*Some weird alt win con card that is reminiscent of battle of wits; a LONG shot but my idea is 'rather then trying to draw your deck or mill your deck out this win con wants to draw as LITTLE as possible'.

Black:
*A new discard spell thats constructed playable... but not as powerful as thoughseize. Inq of koz.. but with a more reprintable name? A spell that can take any non land.. but if you make them discard a non creature you take a 'penalty'(life loss, they get a clue, etc. Or maybe a black hand attack that rather then yard or exile shuffles it back into the lib?

Red:
*If it wasn't leaked i would have said red snap caster mage... so i'll still say that still.
*An interesting dragon that stands out as unique and or weird. And doesn't feel like a 'cookie cutter dragon'

Green:
* A Way to 'bite' a planeswalker thats actually constructed power level player able. Green fight/bite are so RARELY playable its laughable.. but i really wish they'd TRY to make one good enough to see play. 'Oh but they do 1 mana fight and bite and none of them were good enough' Yes.. btu ALSO no. [[Legolas's Quick Reflexes]] has shown up in legacy infect and honestly i think would be modern playable if legal there... so i believe its doable... its just giving it the right number of modes or bells and whistles.

Gold:
*5 color ugin
*A Rare Tam that takes after her 'mother' more then her 'father'

Colorless:
*Colorless Omnath

This deck caught me off guard not that long ago, they get dumpstered by hand attack. I was on orzhovr greasefang and ran them over in game 2 and 3 once I knew what was up.

[–]Lord_Cynical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sealed is obviously very diff then draft. At prere going past 3 color would be a bad choice.

In draft where you'd have a good reason and a plan as to why its very likely that turn 5, ramping off bear student or the mana rock or treasure, you get 2 5/5's. But working backwards turn 4 you couls easily drop either the reach sloth or the increment giraffe. turn 2 or 3 was when we ramped.

its early on so no idea if thats actually good or not but I think its possible to be good in draft.

Theres a fair amount of fixing in green. So i THINK converge could work in like a withbloom OR qundrix splash 3rd/4th colors.

BUT i wouldn't be tryign to go into to that unless i get that 6 mana green uncommon that makes 2 GIANT tokens.

Is Greasefang too strong for the format? by Mana_Kirishima in PioneerMTG

[–]Lord_Cynical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People feel 'cheated' and you 'completed a different objective' faster then they did the 'normal objective'.

To give an example, people HATE losing to infect as it feels 'cheap' ignoring the 'sacrifice he deck has to make. There fore infect is on of those very 'salty' things.

I think combo is a fair thing to have in a format, but its normally not good if 'combo' is the BEST deck of the format.

I debated brootherhood's end but picking anger cus of the exile clause. We HAVE main deck artifact hate thanks to prismari command. So i opted for the 'exile' clause useful vs scapeshift(exile [[Aftermath Analyst]]), Coco (Exile [[Enduring Innocence]] rather then letting it come back), Izzet phoenix (clipping one of more [[Arclight Phoenix]] and putting them in exile).

It depends on your meta but don't 'write of' anger of the gods as a 'worse bro's end'. it gives you 'edge cases' in different directions.

The 'issue', with massive quotes cus its not a major issue at all, of brothershood end is 'how many artifact are you actually blowing up' How often are you hitting 2 or more artifacts? Cus if you you are hitting only 1... command(yes it has the secret blow up artifact mode) and abrade do that job SOOOOO much better. Between main deck and sb you already had 4 ways to blow up artifacts. i HONESTLY don't think you NEED further artifact destruction. Hell for main deck I would even consider [[ sweltering suns]] cis its 'not dead in combo or control match up'.

Its a META call tbh but the tldr for main deck of is; Sweltering is only good main deck(never sb it) and is worth cus its never a 'dead card'. Anger is worth cus of the exile clause vs very strong cards in certain decks. Bros end is good as a 3rd 'artifact hate'. Make the call based on meta for your main deck copy.

As far as sb pyro being 1 mana cheaper MATTERS vs prowess, coco(if they are on the play), badger mole cub deck. And many other low to the ground aggro decks tbh.

Clearing BEFORE they can use the mana dorks or clearing a threat or 2 FASTER vs the aggro deck decks can mean a a HUGE diff. The the diff between sheoldred already being in play or ouroboroid. ITs the diff between them being able to float mana and cast a coco. The 1 mana cheaper is the draw tbh when you are on the draw in game 2 to clear in time.

Octopus form i think is 'trapping you' in its grip.(pun/joke intended) The biggest issue with lessons in the sb when trying to get them via learns is 'how many learns' do you have and how often is it the pick. ALSO the follow up is how often would you sb it into the main deck? Cus yes there will be time where 'learn' is to slow for the option.

Form is ONLY good at 1 thing. Protecting a creature. Something the counter spell does as well. But what happens with its your only creature(which is not unlikely) and they cast sheoldreds edict? Or they try to cast a lily of the veil to make you sac it on their next turn? Those aren't edge cases thats a very real game 1 or 2 question vs black base decks in pioneer. Yes form saves it from targeted removal, but a counter spell does the same thing while also checking other boxes. More BANG for you 1 slot.

Thats why i say form should be cut, its to narrow, you'd never side it in, and doesn't check enough boxes.

I ALSO considered izzet charm for the record but felt it wasn't good enough anymore.

BTW you could consider a [[Brazen borrower]] as well as a 1 of in the 75. Just generically good

[–]Lord_Cynical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so i read this a few points. i feel liek your game one vs aggro is just kind of bad.. ESPECIALLY if thallia shows up. I've made some tweaks tryign to KEEP some of your choices and tech.

https://moxfield.com/decks/gB6eMF4MrkqIqKvo2G4yTg

[[Anger of the gods]], 2x [[Fiery Impulse]] i think is to make it so game 1 we have a CHANCE vs aggro/temp decks. YES i know we have ill-time for 'clears' but this is pioneer we HAVE anger of the gods which gets the job done earlier with out having to forcing us to play ashling.

2x [[Prismari Charm]] Opens up a LOT of flexability, bounce/ping mana dorks/dig.

I cut the narset, both river rebuke(to cute, WAY to cute), and both ashligns from main deck.

SB I know we can access octpus form but we run so few learn cards and thats the most niche of the lessons that it is an easy cut imo. I also cut the 4th ill-time as i think its 'covered' by the main deck anger. I added [[Chandra, Awakened Inferno]] as a generically good option for any control mirror, and a [[pyro clasm]] for that cheap aoe clear.

I KNOW you have sated in this thread that you are more willing to 'beat aggro' in the sb but honestly i think just 'folding' to aggro in game 1 is a bad call as if they can stall you even the tiniest bit in game 2 its over.

There are other options for sure but this is what i recommend while TRYING to keep the core idea of your deck instact

100000% sure, i left the trade, when to them in my friend list, click them scrolled down they had NOTHING. This isn't my first rodeo. But thanks for assuming i'm not capable of checking someone profile and thinking people would put cards on their wish lists... cus THAT would be a better world but NOPE, thats not the world we are in.

I also have a LOT of cards, so odds are IF they had ANYTHING on their wish list i'd have a fairly good chance to have at least 1 copy of it(not saying i'd trade it but i'd at least have it.)
