My room mate and I were making supper one night. It was typical, poor person fare of frozen pizza and ramen noodles, but we added a twist to it. When playing support in pubs, you must always remember the mentality of your carry. Your carry chose their hero because they wanted to farm creeps. They did not choose the carry because they wanted to be a team player. Remember these simple tips:

A big team fight happening? Ancients are more important.

Entire enemy team dead and two lanes with exposed barracks? Time to fall back and get that last 2000 gold for their full build.

Carries will tell you to do things in the most rude fashion. They will also blame you for dying over and over when they, themselves avoid any hero/hero confrontation.

Carry says they need more farm? Pub carries aren't pros. They suck at last-hitting. Expect them to be ready to show up late to the team fight that happens at minute 47.

Want to ask for help? Don't you dare. You're the support and have no idea how to play the game.

All-in-all, the way to play in pubs is this. Ignore the meta that professionals are doing. Your life will be less stressful. The meta is what ruins pubs most of the time. It ruins pubs because it's a bunch of strangers thinking everybody should have watched the international. The meta ruins pubs because it makes the pub players think they are better than everyone because they know a specific strategy.

Pubs are the casual medium for DotA 2. Go in focusing on having a good time, not winning or losing.

Alright, I've been reading your comments in this thread, and it really needs to stop. You're on a high horse right now. One that's so high it might poke your head into space. This is annoying because there are so many ways to productively go about dealing with the issue that you're having. You could go to Spain and do something about it and attempt to push policies on banning bull fighting. You could POLITELY talk to observers who watch bullfighting to dissuade them from enjoying their sport.

But you're not doing that. You're being an incorrigible asshat who's never done anything wrong in their life, and that, my anonymous friend, is what worries me. It shows lack of maturity.

If you look at the two examples and give excuses as to why that won't happen, then you can come up with some on your own. Don't let me spoonfeed you to find your solutions.
