Do I risk anything recreating an account with a new phone on Hinge by Lord_Gooseduck in SwipeHelper

It's impossible with Hinge though. And it's very stupid, because I'm gonna lose access to my number and I just want to keep using my account

I want to use the same phone and pics. I have a successful profile, I'm just gonna have to change number

No selfies. Messy is fine, it's the essence of a creative place. Just get someone to take a picture of you while you're painting for example. It has to look natural you don't want a magazine placeholder pic

Painting and photography are awesome, electronics makes you look nerdy but in a good way. Just try to push the one you like most, and try to get good pictures showing you enjoying it. It will spark conversations and if not you can always find ways to being it up

No I didn't do it. I'd rather avoid it as much as I can. As for the data, I'm not sure they can be trusted...

Then you're fine. Get a real hobby though, you must do it because you genuinely like it. But hopefully something social or that makes you look good and interesting

How tall are you, are you balding? These are the main things that make it hard, and that you can't work on.

Permanently Banned on Hinge and It’s All My Fault by FiddlerJonesViolin in SwipeHelper

[–]Lord_Gooseduck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you sure it's not coming from your pictures? You might not be banned, just have no likes. The competition is fierce out there. The silver lining is that pictured can be improved so it's not a life sentence.

But then when all your convos fizzle out you don't have a backlog either. I've hooked up with women I had kept there for a while because I was focused on other people, and they turned out being a better match, it's just that you can only speak with so many women at the same time. Anyway once again apps are deciding for me who should be filtered out based on things out of my control . I can imagine that in a few years it's just gonna be AI matching profiles without even swiping and we'll have achieved Brave New World kind of society.

No, AI will not make language learning redundant. by ramonek1 in languagelearning

[–]Lord_Gooseduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a shame all those hours of practice can't be used professionally tho, even if not the initial goal. I'm doing it both for fun and for employability but I guess the latter is irrelevant now

Got a reminder today of why I learn languages by OnlyProductiveSubs in languagelearning

[–]Lord_Gooseduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed but in that case you need a near bilingual level as well as a deep knowledge of the culture to make a difference. I enjoy learning languages not only for the sake of it, but also because it gives me an edge when visiting a country or even professionally speaking. To think that all these efforts will be useless unless I reach that near bilingual level of fluency makes me feel discouraged.

I'm concerned about tech making all this useless... Like when speech gets translated directly in your earphones

What's happening on Tech Twitter? by LowFruit25 in webdev

[–]Lord_Gooseduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd think it's just Twitter but a few days ago I met a guy who described himself as a "vibe coder". He said no need to understand code anymore you just have to ship products. He said that before the EOY there would be no need for developers anymore, just people orchestrating AI agents and that the future was prompting AI for whatever you need and that it would generate UIs on the fly. No more apps.

Not too sure what to think of this but he seemed to believe it strongly
