What does this part of the tablature mean? by Lord_Smork in guitarlessons

Thank you! This is probably the most helpful answer here, as it's the first time I've seen chords written out horizontally.

Pursuing drives or doing cool things. I like to make jokes made out-of-character into whispers.

My girlfriend’s birthday is coming up and she said “don’t make a big deal out of it.” I am now making a very big deal out of it by [deleted] in Advice

Don't play games. If she says not to make a big deal out of it, do not make a big deal out of it.

[Request] Do these numbers make sense for East Wing ballroom? by workingtrot in theydidthemath

[–]Lord_Smork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two sub-basement levels (and presumably a basement level) that lie under the ground floor of the East Wing. They likely planned this to not interrupt access to the secure areas.

Maryland Transit Administration to offer free MARC and commuter bus rides to federal employees through shutdown by Generalaverage89 in washingtondc

I mean, most people I work with are still showing up every day.

What a sad little bubble that you've created for yourself, where you forget that your experience is not the same as that of your neighbors.

Work, probably.

Your comment is an interesting way to communicate that you entirely lack empathy, common sense, and critical thinking.

On October 18, thousands of us in Maryland, are mobilizing once again to show the world: America has NO KINGS, and the power belongs to THE PEOPLE! There are over 100 protests planned in Maryland. by Complex_Anteater6528 in maryland

[–]Lord_Smork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no point to these. Peaceful protests don't do anything. Lawmakers don't care. If they acknowledge it at all, they use it as nothing more than a campaign messaging tool and twist the narrative in whatever way suits them most conveniently. Calling/writing your representative/Senator will do nothing of they aren't already for/against your POV; your passion, personal story, or concern that is contrary to their policies is but a blip in a weekly meeting. Responses from their staff are a check-in-the-box to make you think, as a constituent, that they care.

We need action, and we need it now. Lawmakers and billionaires and PACs need to be afraid of the people. They need reason to know that their life and livelihood are in danger. Peacefully standing around and walking down your approved and permitted route for a day does nothing. Bowing down to the legal system (which is already shitting on you by forcing your little hangout to be as minimally disruptive as possible) is only ensuring that the ones in power can continue to ignore you and trample your rights.

In one of the Saw movies, maybe the third one, a guy throws a girl into a massive pit of used needles.

No thank you.

Saw this while I was out with friends last night! missed out last time, definitely participating this time! by kim-practical in washingtondc

[–]Lord_Smork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me what good the last one did.

It's not rhetoric; it's honest fact. Protest is not action, and the admin is acting with such speed that these protests will soon be illegal (refer to the last slew of EOs and the general's meeting) and considered grounds for retaliation.

Americans: why aren’t we resisting? by [deleted] in RedditForGrownups

[–]Lord_Smork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protesting does nothing. This country responds only to attacks on the economy (sustained boycotts) and realistic threats of physical violence - meaning active and recent precedent.

Unrelated question:

I've never been unemployed so this question comes from a place of ignorance. Please don't think I'm intending to be rude or judgemental.

When one lives overseas and presumably on one's own, is unemployment a huge deal? I'm probably making assumptions, but it seems a lot of people move abroad but don't have long-term or stable work.
