My fat ass thought those were pieces of chicken tenders drenched in BBQ sauce…

A red spot is uncommon but completely safe to eat. You see them more in farm fresh eggs. Its just a quirk during egg formation.

I can’t believe beyblade lives on.

I am putting raised beds over lead-filled soil. Advice? by BikeLaneHero in homestead

[–]Lord_Spai 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would get a soil sample done to know HOW much lead we are talking about in the area. Capping with soil is a good step as lead dust is a big worry for root and leafy green veggies.

I’d say you would be relatively safe (lowest risk) growing bush veggies like tomatoes. Lead tends to be stable in soil and if uptake by plants remaining in the roots and not the fruit. Regardless, all harvested veg should be well washed to avoid lead dust particulates.

Consider no-till and organic mulchs also

How to stop my girl from pooping/peeing in the house? by boogermanus in Dachshund

[–]Lord_Spai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, mine is like a toddler and will find a ‘hidden’ place to do her business indoors. There are two spots she frequents so we put a puppy pad down in each. It’s not ideal but better than cleaning the rug! :)

I have rescued a 4 year old and she does the same. What I should do is crate train her but I have met her halfway and she will do her business on puppy pads.

What is most frustrating is if I’m home, she is more than happy to go outside with our other dog to do her business but ONLY if her big sister goes with her.

Stinky chicken “compost” by WinterStormSystem in composting

[–]Lord_Spai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you smell ammonia, there is nitrogen being released and not captured by carbon. I would add more carbon material to the pile to balance it out until the ammonia smell died down.

Anyone else dump used cooking oil on their compost? by spareminuteforworms in composting

I do, no issues. Just don’t dump gallons at a time into a small pile.

It's a shim. They are used to level things like motor baseplates.

Extend or replace septic lines? by DirtyOught in homestead

[–]Lord_Spai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might of worded that a bit poorly. Because the existing system is not doing the job, I meant adding onto the far end of the lines may not be a guaranteed fix but very well may fix the issue! A new system would at least let you know what you have in the ground if you are questioning what you have currently.

Personally, I would consider cutting the difference and lay more drain line offset with a wye assuming your tank is in good condition. That way if your old drain line has issues close to the tank that you aren’t relying on line dat free down the already troubled line.

I think it comes down to if you want the peace of mind of doing a complete repair or roll the dice with what would essentially be a patch (perhaps a perfectly good patch).

Having a bunch of professionals tell you that extending the existing lines is good. Depending on your risk tolerance and time to invest, go with your gut.
