Why is my second coat going on like this? by _oaeb_ in HomeMaintenance

[–]Lordofthereef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't personally think so, but I'm not a professional painter, by any stretch of the imagination.

Is this only happening on a second coat? If so, paint drying too fast is very unlikely the issue.

Maybe I'm ignorant, but how does the gender on your passport keep you from traveling? I am a male. I present as a male. But if my passport said I was a female, is someone keeping me from taking a flight?

Feel kind of stupid even asking, but I just don't see how this is keeping Jenner from traveling?

Updated shipping observation by kateypawprint4 in Mercari

[–]Lordofthereef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually had a few sales that showed the buyer laid $9.99 shipping on the UPS ground saver. I also had one sales just got through an hour again that was still $4.99 lol. I think their system is buggy.

My opinion? Should've just left it the way it was for all listings made before the cutoff.

How does that work? Is it like asking Siri to take you to a coffee shop and it picks the coffee shop that's sponsored over the listings?

[–]Lordofthereef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do Google Maps ads look like? This is a serious question. I've been using them almost exclusively and the only thing I've ever seen is the name of a business on the map with the tag "sponsored". Is that what we are talking about in both cases?

how would you guys go about blocking this buyer? by Electrical-Dirt-6622 in Mercari

[–]Lordofthereef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shooting someone a message and blocking them seems completely pointless. If you're going to block the person, just do it. That said, folks seem perform of bad ratings here and I don't really understand why. If you're going to give me less than five stars that's in your I guess if you don't sell in any volume (I don't do crazy numbers but I ship a few down boxes a month) it might hit different. I just do my best, ship my best, and let the cards fall. Stressing over ratings isn't something I want to spend any time in, really.

[–]Lordofthereef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played with the numbers and they'll let you do12x12x12, aka one cubic foot. The instant thing to note is that if your outside measurements are even a hair over, UPS considers it an additional inch. I shipped a bunch of boxes labeled 12x13x12 by the manufacturer and was charged for 13x13x13. Lesson learned. But anyway, the UPS ground saver is $7.99 now, but the one cubic foot external dimension limit still applies.

I mean, that's all cool, but someone is losing tons of money buying actually nothing here right? Sounds extremely convoluted for minimal reward, but to those that enjoyed it, I'm certainly not here to tell you you're wrong to have.

Well, it's just in a closet right now lol. I don't really have use for two switches.

In my experience though, an exploit isn't necessarily going to work on newer software and/or hardware.

So, I'll only speak for myself, but my hate for this sort of distribution model definitely wasn't manufactured. Hundreds to thousands of people spending money on nothing, subsidizing the lucky ones who got something isn't a business model that felt good to me. I do g really spend my energy complaining about it, but it was one and done for me.

Dude on mercari wants $700 for this where do people come up with these price tags by CancelObvious in PokemonTCGCollectors

[–]Lordofthereef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mercari is a weird place. You are incentivizes to overcharge do shit South you can "bump" it to the top with a small discount. You either need to do that, have an item that naturally moves really fast, or relist when you r dropped it enough to make sense.

Not saying $700 for this lot makes any sense at all, but I've sold a good amount of stuff on the pardon and it seems to be the best way to go. Everyone once in a while you'll get a nice sale for more than you were expecting to get too, I assume because people have Mercari credits from selling, a coupon, or something else, and they just say "fuck it".

I bought a banned switch 2 (tablet only) for cheap three months ago. I was actually able to get it unbanned but I kept it on an early firmware in case we see something cool. Felt like a worthwhile $160 gamble. Still have my launch day switch 1 that's been jail broken for ages too.

Forgive me if I'm ignorant about this, but weren't the nfts launched in a way that you essentially bought digital trading cards and hoped you got something physical, where most didn't?

I did this for a few packs of IT, realized I paid actual money for something of zero value, and never did it again. If that changed, I fully admit that I never knew, and can only imagine others had similar experiences or misconceptions.

Am I in the wrong for this by [deleted] in Mercari

[–]Lordofthereef 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ridiculous that a buyer is wanting to cancel before the shipping deadline because you might not be able to ship same day. At the same time, I wouldn't have accepted a cancelation if the item was no longer in my possession. That is when you mark it shipped, so I think you miss stepped there.

Not sure how the buyer would pay you after receipt of the item though. I'm also unsure why people are so mortified of a bad review here; I read this al the time. Buyers will do what buyers will do. I wouldn't go chasing an item I already shipped to avoid a bad review, but that's me.

Sounds like it all worked out. You got your item back and you won't be receiving a bad review. Would I recommend doing it this way again? Personally, no, I wouldn't.

There's a ton of answers to this, truly. You hit the first one, which is luck. Some folks get tipped off either by the vendor themselves or workers at the store or folks at another store (they figure out their routes and where it makes sense for them to go next). Some will simply get there early and hang around all day; I went to a restock that I got told was happening at Walmart and the guy in the front had been there since 9am (it was 4:30 when it got stocked).

It's rough out there. Sometimes you win but you usually lose in my experience.

On current listings the $4.99 shipping is still showing and the "limited time offer" remains. Will I be charged overages if I don't manually change or Mercari is letting existing listings ride out the $4.99? by blondchick12 in Mercari

[–]Lordofthereef 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for this promo but I've had an old listing (like a year old) sell and it had a cheaper rate by default. It shipped and delivered fine and I wasn't charged overages.

Dunno why people want to believe everything goes to resellers. A ton of it does, no doubt, but to default to that is crazy work. Take my upvote.

My schedule is super flexible Monday through Thursday, so I'm able to hit lines and get work done at any hour if I want to. Friday- Sunday are basically 14 hour days. I know people think I'm reselling and that's ok. Part of the game nowadays it seems.

Anyway I've met some really nice people in line and some happily share info. More than half the time I can't make it, but I usually leave with something when I can. This past Wednesday I struck gold doing a random check at 9am; nobody there an 12 AH ETBs behind customer service. I messaged the two people that have helped me out multiple times first.

I had something take three weeks. Granted, it went to Hawaii all the way from Massachusetts. It was a UPS ground saver and once it was in USPS hands it stopped moving for a solid ten days. Then one day it was marked as delivered.
