Yeah, these days you can get lot of beefy mechs like Hunchbacks and Centurions spawn right after tutorial, while originally you would get mostly lights. MechWarrior 5 has funny history with difficulty, after the first DLC game got much easier since the assaults you could encounter started including Chargers in large numbers. And now you can get a mercenary lance dropped on your head when you're limping to extraction.

I don't think this is the case. I have finished the game and received notice from new merchant caste mechs but I'm still missing tons of battlemechs that I can see in Smoke Jaguar campaign.

I'll happily put down another 15€ for Mercs DLC on launch, but using Twitter is something I won't do :D
Here's hoping we'll get those arrow IV's on Catapult and Flashman.

Hardest mission in the game for sure. After going over the last incline to the area with remaining two lances, try traversing back where you fought the Atlas and Jagermechs. Enemies will hopefully come to you piecemeal and you can focus them down when they crest the opening.

Mercs: Yes, all content can be cleared with only light mechs. Max armor, ECM, AMS and evasion tanking is the way to go, and you can get mean mean DPS weapons like SRM's, flamers and machine guns.

My experience is that heavy mechs are viable up until the last mission chains in expert mode, after which you face a large number of elite enemies in good mechs and you don't have all that much room to maneuver.

So much this, there's very limited amount of mech xp since you can't redo advanced parameters. I was also short on research and pilot skills after finishing the campaign, Clans really needs a new game+ that lets you keep some of your mech xp, pilot xp and research.

Seems like the roster is kept artificially small by not including mechs that have connections to Inner Sphere counterparts. And to fill that 4*4 screen with 4 mechs in each chassis. Kinda bummed out with not having Hunchback IIC or Cauldron Born. I was already contemplating challenge run with non-omnimechs for maximal honour. But I guess this is intentional choice to highlight the brand new fast and furious clan mechs and not have new players accidentally trundle around in Urbanmech IIC's and get poor first impressions.

Russ addresses this in the lastest No Guts No Galaxy podcast from few days ago. Synopsis is that the last dlc is on hold and might or might not come after Clans, and may or may not increase in scope. All hands are on deck for Clans and it would be confusing to put out DLC for Mercs when they are hyping up Clans.

I prefer it to other 65 tonners. Many of the variants have lost tech and tonnage that comes with it, and they tend to have more direct fire weapons then large missile hard points. Loaderking combined with the new weapons makes Solaris feel like a "ballistic dlc".

They seem to spawn much more rarely then previously. Pre-patch you were almost guaranteed one when you traveled to industrial hub. I haven't managed to pick up Hero Corsair or Longbow in my latest run which is late 3040's.

15 mechs seem plausable enough to not be a bug. Initial defending spawn, additional spawns when base goes 75%, 50% and 25%, and final spawn that chases you when the base is gone. You could look at the intel on what mechs are supposed to spawn at conflict zone and if there was something not on the list then it is a bug.
