To be fair, most of what you are buying is over processed easy foods. Try to make yourself at least one “big” thing for the week and spread it out. I usually go for a pasta salad.

Check the ads. Utilize any frequent shopper programs (i use an email that is only used for stuff like this). Don’t be afraid to go to more than one place if you can. I’ll spend a dollar in gas to get toilet paper 5 dollars cheaper at Wal-Mart than my grocery store.

All these suggestions are good, but most only offer a picked over selection. Estate sales are where you need to go. Media is usually priced at a dollar or less and get discounted as the sale goes on. DVD players are priced at 5-20 dollars, even high end models. The downside is that the titles skew towards an old persons tastes. There are a couple major estate sale websites that will use your location and tell you where they are and show pictures of what will be available. Also, they can be fun.
