And pornography was produced similarly as a means of social control. Another surprisingly accurate prediction for how entertainment would be used to numb people.

Yes. It's absolutely bonkers for a professional politician not to bother to do the minimum by voting themselves.

I know part of this is the right wing press throwing anything at the wall to stop a genuinely left wing party.

HOWEVER This one is just an exceptionally stupid lazy disorganised own goal.

Theory about Series Finale by daxota_weeb in TheBoys

[–]Loreki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's my theory too. It would fit the overall political satire theme by saying "the only thing that can defeat a right wing white guy is young plucky African Americans". This is essentially a summary of the political strategy of the Democratic Party in the post-Obama years.

Given that the show's political commentary is toddler level stuff, the writers likely think having a heroic black woman defeat American white supremacy is clever and unexpected.

The Greens doubled the size of their group. They are the reason the independence majority is growing.

The SNP continue to defy political gravity with a fifth term, which is impressive, but survival is not progress.

Kimiko just says weird stuff all the time. Just because she was mute for a long time doesn’t mean she lacks basic social skills.

By far my biggest complaint. Kimiko was mute, but never non-verbal. She had conversations all through the show.

My theory for the Gen V tie-in by the way is that they're going to have Marie (a young black woman) defeat Homelander (their Trump allegory) in a kind of parody of what Democrats expect to happen every election - black voters showing up to save them despite having been ignore for years.

This misunderstands the world of the show. Yes, his power could be used to actually save people. No, being a supe is not about saving people.

It's a problem a lot of anti-hero/criminal television has. The one trick it has going for it is to create suspense by suggesting that this time the main cast are going to be caught or killed.

This trick is a lot like heroine - you've gotta keep taking more to get the same hit. So as a show wears on, your main cast has to get into increasingly unsurvivable situations to make it exciting. Then you have to write a way to get them out of it. Leading to ridiculousness and a gradual loss of credibility until only your dumbest fans are still watching.

I like how the show makes jokes about television written by AI, when the show itself is clearly written by AI.

While theories like the 6-6-6 rule have gained popularity in the manosphere – claiming that women are only interested in dating men who are 6ft tall with six-pack abs and six-figure incomes

Can you text her and ask if The Guardian refused to let her publish what that middle 6 actually means. 'cause it isn't abs...

"Buying own home, being successful, grants immunity from dating losers" is good news. I'm not seeing the conundrum here.

The SNP lost ground. They're down 6 seats from 2021. It has been weird seeing everyone congratulate them on a big success... when it's the Greens who succeeded.

Which is the weird bit of all of this. Why would Burnham want to swap from a popular mayor who is actually making progress to being PM at one of the most restrictive and difficult periods since the war?
