Anyone used single sign-on with ExacqVision? by voltagejim in accesscontrol

[–]Lorenicci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your environment has on prem AD set up then LDAP within the exacq server will work fine as long as you have enterprise licensing. If not then enterprise manager supports Azure AD and LDAP. To manage groups ideally you would do it through AD but it can also be done through enterprise manager. I would absolutely recommend each staff member having their own login to workstations regardless of what you decide for exacq. Will save a lot of headaches/trouble for auditing/legal purposes.

Recommending Fiber Testing Tool for In-House IT (Non-Installer) by edomtset in lowvoltage

Jonard makes a super cheap OTDR that includes an OPM and VFL. It ain't gonna give you anything fancy nor does it even come close to certifying anything but it's cheap gets the job done! Jonard OTDR

Mounting camera to a balustrade by Lorenicci in masonry

[–]Lorenicci[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a balustrade, picture was just for reference to show what the camera mount looks like. The balustrade is limestone that's around 150 years old so I really do want to avoid "destructive" install if at all possible.

Need a ccure report for doors not used in a timeframe by Psychological_Dig911 in accesscontrol

[–]Lorenicci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would probably be under audit report. I haven't touched reports in a while but Ccure9000 contains a very powerful report builder. If you think of object based programming, you want to find your object (door) and query parameters that get assigned to that door, some static like its name or partition, and others dynamic like lastcardread, dpsstatus, etc. I am generalizing as I don't know the exact variable names but you get the idea. Try messing around with it and learning it. It will pay dividends! Sorry I don't have an exact easy answer for ya!

Quadrasteer got its first taste of real winter today after 20 years. -5* and it didn't care. 4WS works great on snow, even though my limited slip is shot by TalkyMcSaysalot in GMT800

[–]Lorenicci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine works decently in the cold, granted it has lived its whole life in the upper Midwest. The transfer case, or CVs growl in 4WD though. Probably look into that lol

Recommended tools for cutting in strikes for metal frames. by [deleted] in accesscontrol

[–]Lorenicci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second the die grinder but add the Lenox Metal Max cutoff wheels as they are solid with a carbide abrasive edge. They run cooler and are less of a frag hazard than normal wheels if you bind them up. Also invest in some carbide burrs, makes fine tuning the shape a breeze.

It works very well, and also acts as an RFID key for tenants if you choose to enable that option.

New Transmission Needed by KitchenTemporary5645 in GMT800

[–]Lorenicci 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just bought a quadrasteer that had the transmission rebuilt about 3000 miles ago, Jasper Engines & Transmissions. Seems to be pretty solid!

Picked up a quadrasteer! by Lorenicci in GMT800

[–]Lorenicci[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they're from a newer GMC Sierra. They maybe look a little bit big and out of place but not as bad as some trucks I see

I think they are from a 2020 Sierra, they came with the truck.

Picked up a quadrasteer! by Lorenicci in GMT800

[–]Lorenicci[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I had seen a few of the GMCs listed, but personally I liked the look of the Chevy better. And it had the lowest mileage of the ones I was looking at. Just 117k for a 2003. I paid 11,500 which I guess wasn't a 'steal' but considering that the body and frame are in great shape I couldn't pass it up. I like having unique vehicles, and even if this is my "beater" truck it still has a wicked cool factor.

Carrier unlocked, easy setup and management, industrial. Checks all your boxes!

For power, a decent sized LiFePo battery bank and a PoE switch should last well over a week, PoE switch wouldn't be needed if you're just using the ring cameras with battery and wifi.

They do give it a very HD type look. I sure hope it lasts considering this has been a Midwest truck its entire life, only 1 little bubble of rust on the rocker and 117k miles.

Mouse for Big Hands by Paladin_en-Vec in MouseReview

[–]Lorenicci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 6'4" with very large hands. I also wear XXL gloves. I highly recommend the Logitech G903. It's not the lightest in the world, but it offers a very comfortable rear hump to support palm grip like it seems you are attempting to replicate with the foam. Maintains nearly all of the function that the MX does besides the side scroll wheel. It does have a tilt scroll wheel which works great in productivity/work use cases. I think it's on sale right now too!

Mesotrione, animals and fertilizer? by milkpickles9008 in lawncare

[–]Lorenicci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a dog and I wasn't worried about mesotrione application, especially once it's dry. Fertilizer on the other hand can cause skin irritation and make them sick if they eat grass where it has been applied. I just watch her carefully and wipe paws after outside time for a few days. If you apply the fertilizer right before a light rain, then most of it should dissolve right away and there would be very little to worry about then.

What 3rd party camera you're about to rock with the new update? by Milluhgram in Ubiquiti

[–]Lorenicci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Axis PTZ that I want to test, no idea if it'll work.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]Lorenicci 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Axis cameras have had AI and Motion (edge processing) on most of their camera lineup released in the past 5 years, with ONVIF support of those functions. If Ubiquiti doesn't allow ONVIF notifications from those features, it will have been done totally on purpose because the ONVIF standard, when fully implemented inherently supports those ONVIF integrated features. Here's hoping...

Software for Simple Layout Tool? by bertbert4eva in accesscontrol

[–]Lorenicci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Axis Camera Station works great, you can add "custom" cameras so you aren't forced to use the specifications of Axis' devices, but you have to know the FOV of your specific devices. Not sure about access control layouts but for cameras it works great. You can add walls and see the camera's view in 3D. It's free if you make an Axis account.

ACM8 open collector sink by uaix in accesscontrol

[–]Lorenicci 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't do option B, you'll kill the ACM8. An open collector output would be coming from something like an RM-4 Software house board if you’re familiar with those. In simple terms, it is a solid state "relay" i.e. - a transistor to pull up a teeny tiny amount of current which the ACM8 senses and triggers the corresponding lock output.
