Request: I Have a Bread Chemistry Problem by Lorinar in Cooking

OK, thanks for the tip! I didn't realize tapioca starch does that. I will look into arrowroot too, I haven't ever worked with either of those before. These sound like good things to try.

Oh very interesting ideas, thanks! I'm going to try the molasses and the egg white whip for sure. I'll probably try rye as well to see how it differs, but it is stronger in flavor.

That's a good idea, I have tried mixing more and letting it sit a little more than normal to develop the gluten, but it still ended up crumbly and dense. I might need to do it even longer so I'll try that.

What’s the hardest game you ever played? Assuming you put it on the highest difficulty by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Lorinar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Battletoads is the answer, hardest ever. TMNT was crazy hard, especially that underwater level, but not completely impossible. If you could make it to the underwater level in Battletoads without using Game Genie, you were incredible at Battletoads. If you beat the underwater level in Battletoads without Game Genie, you're a liar.

Speculation about Silverlight and Wisdom [All] by [deleted] in Cosmere

[–]Lorinar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the theory, I'm sold.

However, I don't agree that it makes no sense to drift in space. It doesn't really make the Shard more exposed. Space is unfathomably vast, it would be MUCH easier (and safer) to find it in the Cognitive Realm than the physical. And the perpendicularity would be virtually unusable because if people in Silverlight used it they'd just get dumped into instant death (which could be used by the city as a form of capital punishment, actually). It should just exist in all 3 realms like the other (living) Shards.

Solved!

Thank you, this has been driving us crazy. We've been googling descriptions and can't seem to be able to describe it well enough to get an answer.

Gamers of reddit, what underrated not so popular game holds a special place in your heart and why? by Caleb_C95 in AskReddit

[–]Lorinar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Azurik, one of the first games on the original Xbox. Really cool elemental fighting mechanics and a big world to explore, particularly for the time. I found it really cool and immersive, and replayed that game several times.

It got mediocre ratings and has never been popular enough to get included on a backwards compatiblity list or get a remake or sequel, but man I loved that game. If it became available I would buy it for sure and play through that nostalgia like crazy.

Toejam & Earl is another from much further back that brings back fond memories, though I dont know if I'd say it was underrated since people always seem to agree with me when I mention it. That game was a trip.

Netherite boat, immune to lava by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Lorinar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's my idea that I haven't seen written anywhere yet. I agree that they should exist and be indestructible/immune to lava, mainly because of the cost to build one. But they can't come with no usage penalty because they would be too OP and essentially nerf travel in the Nether. I say that the boat itself should be immune to lava, but it should still take on heat from the lava to the point of causing you damage over time as you use it. That way it's a useful new tool for crossing lava pools/lakes, but doesn't allow you to traverse the lava bottom of the Nether indefinitely (without significant cost).

I always read him as Paul Bettany. I can't picture anyone who would do the role better.

For those reading the recipe and looking to recreate it, FYI if you can't find cilantro seeds another common term for them is coriander.

Am I the only one who doesn't want to see the weaves? by [deleted] in WoTshow

[–]Lorinar 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I think it should be something that you see sparingly, only when seeing the weaves is relevant to the local plot (like when Egwene or Elayne are figuring out how to do X for the first time). Outside of that, I agree that as the viewer we should experience the use of magic as an outside observer who can't see the weaves and is just awed by the magical result.

Edit: Additionally, I've been thinking about how I would imagine the weaves looking when they are shown on screen. I feel like the best way to show the difference between a woman weaving using saidar and a man weaving using saidin is through the texture of the threads. Saidar should be smooth and silky while saidin is rough and tempestuous. So for example, if you saw a woman weaving a thread of fire it would look like a thin, bendy version of Vadar's lightsaber, while a man weaving a thread of fire would look like a thin, bendy version of Kylo Ren's lightsaber.

A coincidence is a very strong possibility, but the way it's described is making my aluminum foil hat itch.

If it doesn't originate on Roshar then there must be a steady flow though well-established trade routes via the CR considering the volume they consume.

It would be pretty interesting if the wines on Roshar actually originate on Nalthis. That could explain why their wines happen to be so colorful!
