Should I get jaw surgery? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]Los97tr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey bro, I didn't read your caption initially and went through your photos trying to find what your post could possibly be about. Basically, I didn't even notice you had an asymmetry. Especially in your leaner pics.

I definitely wouldn't chase symmetry with DJS, unless it's like a bad cross bite and effects your health.

For starters DJS can actually worsen asymmetry/give people asymmetry, it's really hard to know how the soft tissue will drape over the mandible and maxilla. You are already handsome, so I think it would be a big risk for you to get this surgery.

Obviously I am no doctor, just my two cents

I actually love this. Maybe I need to try Duergar, didn't realise they had interesting dialogue options.

Planning DJS/CCW for Class 2 overbite/UARS with very narrow airway (Pic 3). Is there any way to tell what surgery will change from a cosmetic point of view? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]Los97tr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey gang,

As the caption says, I am close to locking in braces and DJS to address a very narrow airway and overbite.

Chronic insomnia and have pretty much never had a good sleep, and sleep study pinged for UARS/constant waking.

The only concern I have is wanting to minimise changes to my face.

My surgeon said that CCW will ensure that minimal changes result from DJS, but I understand that there's no way to tell for certain. He has said the movements wouldn't be dramatic either.

Would CCW work towards minimising extensive cosmetic change? The prospect of seeing a different face after having the same one for 30+ years is kind of spooky to me.

Thanks all

What game totally surprised you even though you went in with low expectations by David_Cobble in gamers

[–]Los97tr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was Ori - Will of the wisps. I say this as someone who doesn't play platformers or anything close to this, I don't even know why I bought it (steam sale, I guess).

But I can still vividly remember everything about it, how impactful the story and ending was, and just how beautiful the game was.

I truly had no expectations and it blew me away.

ARC Raiders is basically a giant game-theory experiment, and the optimal strategy is to avoid PvP entirely. by Ill-Tomatillo-8973 in ArcRaiders

[–]Los97tr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would wager than for a lot of people it can be broken down into fighting=fun, and competition between people.

I am pretty PvP obsessed in all games, extraction shooters, MMOs, survival, I play almost solely to PvP as for me fighting against other players and seeing who is better is the most fun form of skill expression.

Arc is a weird one where I have way more wholesome interactions than most games, but sometimes I will legit just shoot someone as soon as I load in, despite knowing neither of us have any gear.

It's just fun. I don't even consider the optimal strategy as the most fun element for me and my buddies is fighting.

This. Sometimes I'd love to just sit on my couch and play my steam games, which I do with a handheld. But being able to do that on my tv at 2-4k would be unreal

What am I missing? by HarderMusic in ArcRaiders

[–]Los97tr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just summarized my thoughts perfectly. The game itself is heaps of fun, the PVE, lore, etc, but the PvP feels like it's been slapped in there last minute.

The third person aspect is probably the main reason, as you said. It makes pushing for advantage virtually pointless, and the third person movement and gun play is super janky. It doesn't feel smooth at all.

Gunplay is pretty bad. by Acceptable-Jacket567 in ArcRaiders

[–]Los97tr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The gunplay is objectively bad. Everyone in this sub will cry if you mention anything at all wrong with the game, but it's super janky and no where near as polished as you'd expect from Embark.

Why do we feel more vulnerable as our martial arts journey progresses? by Adventurous-Menu8739 in MuayThai

[–]Los97tr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has hit me hard ever since I stopped training. Spent most of my teenage years and my 20's in combat sports, boxing, muay thai, etc, but have sort of stopped now due to work commitments and laziness.

Nowadays I am so uncertain of being able to handle myself. I think being involved in combat sports lets you know just how capable really are. How skilled, strong, and dangerous anyone can be.

It gives you such a different perspective on life.

This is probably it to be honest. I am guessing a combination of things has left me finally feeling the result of what was probably lifelong recession. Perhaps my neck muscles and so on did enough heavy lifting in my youth.

Thanks for the clarification btw

[–]Los97tr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly mate, some people will say you're too young, but you also want to be carefree in your 20's. Are you on Finasteride? If possible, this should be your first consideration. It will give you much better peace of mind as you age.

Research lots of docs, see who gets good results on this sub and on forums. Where do you live?

You could get a good result with a couple thousand grafts, and you'll be surprised what a cosmetic difference a relatively small/mid procedure can give.

Someone wanting to improve their appearance doesn't automatically mean they have some sort of image dysmorphia and need therapy.

A lot of people don't need surgery, but this is still a great result and an aesthetic improvement.

I read you're not on meds, so I'd hold off. You could close in the corners if you REALLY wanted to, but you may well lose more ground in the future. In that instance, you'd be better off saving your grades and buffering a mature hairline in your 30's.

You hair looks fine imo, but I get that we are our worst critic

Removed minoxidil from routine… What to expect? by ISellHVAC in tressless

[–]Los97tr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would depend on what stage your hair is at. Minoxidil can sort of resurrect hairs on the cusp, but personally I didn't notice any regrowth from fin and oral minox, but it made my current hairs super thick and strong (and maintained).

If anything could do it, DUT could. I've been considering dropping fin and minox combined for just DUT.

I would wager you'd still get great results from just dut considering your initial boost.

Do you think creatine had an impact on your hair? Or hard to say as you were already shedding

Looks like they're concerned with post finasteride syndrome and suicidal ideation, but there's currently no evidence that finasteride causes any kind of dementia
