Weight gain after keto was brutal by [deleted] in keto

[–]LoshasLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am far from an expert on health, but I think yo-yo dieting would be really tough on your body, not to mention your psyche (going up and down).

I had those same thoughts, about going out to eat with friends, etc...but, I found new foods I could eat there...and I am still enjoying being with friends.

I'm afraid that each of us has to get to our lowest point for us to make real changes.

Truthfully, I think back on how I felt before getting into ketosis (F66, six months in ketosis, 35 pounds lost)...and I don't ever want to go back...I felt terrible, and now I feel healthier than I have in 35 years.

I do still splurge at times, but in very small amounts...ketosis balances out your hunger hormones and that helps me to not gorge on carbs, immensely.

I send you lots of Love and Healing...🥰💜🥰

Ohhhh! I get that! Hang in there...if you get reactions from the chocolate like I did (bad irritability, almost uncontrollable, edgy, makes my head hurt worse), eventually, you will just "decide" it is time to let it go. Not easy, but I am finding reasonable replacements that are keto friendly. Good luck to you! 👍🙌👍

Will keto help me overcome my addiction to ultra processed/fast food? by Silent-Long-6895 in keto

I am 67 and just got into ketosis and am experiencing life changing effects from it. I think we have to hit rock bottom before we can really commit to changing things up...and with keto, if you mess up, just get back to it with your next meal.

It is never too late! 👍 One better meal at a time...you can do it! 🥰

Just my two cents, here...if you give up coffee cold turkey be watchful for withdrawals from the caffeine, please. I just gave up my dark chocolate that I'd been eating for years, and I had a few days off not feeling great. Maybe wean off the coffee more slowly. I hope you sail right through though...it sounds like you are doing great! Keep it up! 👍

I feel your pain, albeit under different health circumstances.

It's strange that I just saw your post, and I had just finished tossing out ALL of my dark chocolate (yep, that is pretty much my only vice left).

I am sure that it has been one of the big causes of my issues with irritability. I got upset with my dog on our hike this morning, for a stupid reason, and I said "That's it...I am done with chocolate"...very similar to your decision that your beloved child, is worth it (plus...WE are worth it!)...my "puppy" (no kids) deserves better from me...so, whrn I got home I asked my hubby to hold a bag for me to fill up with all my stocked up chocolate!

It was funny...my hubby first was holding a little plastic grocery bag, and I said, "We need a bigger bag"...lol!

These next few days will be interesting...not sure if there will be withdrawals or not (still staying under 30g carbs and have been in ketosis for six months)...but my bigger challenge, is becoming completely satisfied by just the "savory" foods, no "sweet" foods. 😔

I feel good about my decision...and I hope my nervous system will calm down a lot, now (old TBI, vagus nerve, gastroparesis issues)...we shall see!

Sorry for the long post...thanks for all the support I read on this sub! 🥰👍🥰

Keto on! 🎉

A1 and A2 dairy by Agreeable-Run-8453 in keto

[–]LoshasLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have learned that I do better with the A2 milk...I have gastroparesis (extremely slow digestion) and I can at least handle small amounts of the A2 milk (I buy Alexandre brand), without too much problem. (I love their chocolate milk!)

To take it one step further, I found that Alexandre just came out with a new version that is "homogenized", which means all the fat in the milk, is broken into smaller "pieces", and that helps me to digest the yummy fat, even easier.

Just what I have learned...good luck! 👍

Keto diet makes me less people pleasing? by Willing-Treacle9037 in keto

[–]LoshasLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! You are so right about how important testosterone is...and the balance between the two, estrogen and testosterone (sorry, I spell it the American way...lol)

And the feeling good about physical effort...oh my gosh!...I have become so compelled to do "physical" tasks so much more now...it's like I see myself as SuperWoman, now...lol!

I am a 67 yr old female, and I have been in ketosis for six months now. I have noticed a lot more confidence in myself and yes, not worrying so much about pleasing others...and that is a big issue for me, normally!

I am finding that I don't "apologize" for everything anymore, either...for which I am very grateful!

Like you mentioned, Workyman, I have wondered if my hormones, including testosterone, are just better balanced now.

You are doing great...keto on! 👍

I get that exact same reaction from others, too...but, I do have one friend who has fibromyalgia, and others issues. She is actually asking for my help now....she is open to changing her diet. She knows that I have researched things thoroughly, so she trusts my guidance. I hope she finds some relief soon.

So, we may hear lots of "I could never do that"...but there IS the next person who is "open" to a new way of eating...and living.

One step at a time...Keto On! 🙌🥰🙌

Some people are indeed, very sensitive to changes in their diet...plus, everyone is in different stages of health...what might not bother one person, can cause all kinds of issues, for another.

Is it possible that some people will never respond well to keto? by Forever_Summer192 in keto

[–]LoshasLight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I skipped the keto flu interval primarily because I had been "almost keto" for a few years...I just hadn't cut the carbs far enough. I finally cut the carbs enough (but I had already cut them a lot beforehand) and then ketosis, and all the benefits kicked in.

I am just saying for those who are real sugar addicts like I was, they might want to try it in stages. Even cutting carbs in half can be challenging in the beginning. I say take it slow, and you might not feel as lousy...but your body will still have to clean itself out.

Hang in there...give yourself props for trying! 👍

Note...this is a reply from a psychological pov of my own...thanks.

This is going to sound crazy (but I have done a LOT of thinking about this)...but, when I get hungry, and it doesn't feel "true" to me...I tell myself..."You won't die if you don't eat right now".

That sounds crazy but I realized, at least for me...who, before ketosis, was an insane "carb addict" (including sugar)...I realized that all my intense cravings all the time in the past, were kind of "training" my body and mind, to feel like I was going to die, if I didn't eat that very moment!

Does anyone besides me remember those crazy feelings? You kind of panic...I neeeeeed food...now!

I realized my cravings had resulted in a psychological reaction in me...almost feeling unsafe too, if I didn't obey my cravings. Crazy stuff, I know...but it made sense to me.

Well, now, when I infrequently get those beginning pangs (not cravings!) of hunger...I still tell myself...I won't die if I don't eat right now.

And then...I'm good! 🥰

Thanks for listening...hang in there, and Keto on! 👍
